Your Mission

Build the data pipelines that underlie tomorrow's real estate decisions.

We are syte - a PropTech company from Münster, developing a KI-based software for the decision-making basis of real estate development. Our platform replaces weeks-long expert consultations with immediate, KI-driven analyses: project developers, builders, banks, and investors use syte to decide whether, what, and where to build, renovate, or acquire.

As Junior Data Engineer (m/w/d), you will work on the continuous processing of our production data – from loading and extracting data to processing with demanding algorithms and deployment. You will work closely with the product team to identify their needs and provide the most suitable data in high quality. Your focus lies on further automating the process and increasing its efficiency. We process hundreds of terabytes of data daily - scalability and efficiency are crucial!

• Expand our data universe: You research and test new data sources and are responsible for the entire data transformation process – from initial download to transformation into production-ready formats.
• Gain insights from complex You go beyond standard SQL and work with rich, multi-dimensional datasets like 3D building models and LiDAR point clouds, and make raw geometry valuable insights.
• Build pipelines that run themselves: You automate continuous data flows with Airflow, Dataform, and Python, reduce manual work, and increase the reliability of the entire platform.
• Safeguard data quality: You monitor pipelines, identify errors, and implement additional data checks to ensure the delivery of data in highest possible quality.
• Scale efficiently on Google Cloud: You design and optimize pipelines that process hundreds of terabytes, and keep infrastructure costs under control.
• Develop KI-native: You use the full potential of modern KI coding tools like Claude Code and Copilot and identify proactive new KI application cases in the context of data engineering.

Your Profile

• Educational background: You have a successful master's degree in a technical field (e.g., geoinformatics, computer science, business informatics).
• Experience: Ideally, you have gained first-hand experience in these activities during internships, work-study programs, or project work.
• Tech-Stack: You have first-hand experience with Python, SQL, and Git; plus points for experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure providers (especially Google Cloud).
• Languages: You speak fluent English and German (C1 level). English is our primary internal communication language. At the same time, we process many German data and communicate with German authorities.
• A passion for Quality is important to you; you enjoy diving into unknown datasets and discovering new sources.
• Reliable implementation: You hold deadlines sacred and take responsibility for results. If something gets stuck, you communicate it early on with a Plan B – not just at deadline time.
• Interest in the domain: You have high learning motivation and are willing to dive into the demanding PropTech field. If you've already gained experience here, that's a plus.
• Outstanding learning readiness: The drive to grow quickly, make a real impact in a rapidly growing startup, and stay at the forefront of technology – especially with cloud technologies and KI.
