Junior AI Engineer Applications & Data (m/w/d)

Kivvo is Germany's first truly data-sovereign business AI — built for the midmarket, hosted in Germany, and based on the internal knowledge of each company. We are looking for an AI Engineer who does not wait until everything is finished, but builds it together. You will be part of a team that prioritizes substance over promises and has already established the infrastructure, the first pilot customers, and the technical foundation. Come in before Kivvo gets big.

Aufgaben

What you'll do

• An Kivvo build: Features, data flows, logic-based application logic
• Data preparation and processing to enable AI to work sensibly
• Experimenting with LLMs and Retrieval/RAG concepts and implementing solutions
• Solving pragmatic problems: Sometimes with your own code, sometimes with existing tools
• Participating in team decisions and bringing in your own ideas

What you'll learn

• How to make AI applications productive - not just prototypes, but really usable
• How a small team brings a software product from idea to customer
• Practical handling of Python, LLM APIs, data processing, Retrieval systems, and vector databases
• Structured and independent approach to dealing with uncertainty

Qualifikation

What we expect

• Python: You have independently developed small tools, scripts, or automations, not just learned in school
• LLM experience: You have implemented your own small applications with LLMs (APIs, automation, tools)
• Practical proof: You have implemented your own projects that you can show or describe comprehensibly
• Self-sufficiency: You can get started with new topics without someone constantly sitting next to you
• Languages: Secure German in the work context and solid English for team, technology, and documentation

Bonus - not required, but nice to see

• Experience with RAG / data-based AI: your own applications that search or integrate data
• Practical experience with vector databases or Retrieval systems (e.g. Qdrant, Weaviate, ChromaDB)
• Github projects or a portfolio that we can take a look at
• Experience in building structured data pipelines
