Job Description

The Compulsion Measures Tribunal (TMC) is the cantonal authority competent to approve, upon request from the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Judges of the Juvenile Criminal Court, the Police, a Court of First Instance, the Service for the Execution of Penal Sentences and Probation, as well as the Population and Migration Service, particularly incisive compulsion measures, both at the criminal and administrative level. Its decisions are made by a single judge.

Desired Profile

  • Lawyer's certificate, law degree or master's degree in law, and demonstrate sufficient practical knowledge for the exercise of the function
  • Proven skills in criminal law
  • 60% position, requiring high availability to ensure on-call duties
  • The Magistracy Council is seeking a bilingual judge. The position is also open to a German-speaking judge who, with the support of a bilingual clerk, would also be able to and motivated to handle cases in French. Good to very good oral knowledge of French is required, particularly good, or even very good, comprehension skills and sufficient oral expression skills
  • Active cantonal citizenship. Foreign nationals must hold a settlement permit and have been domiciled in the canton for at least five years. Candidates must not have any unsatisfied debt judgments against them or have been convicted of offenses incompatible with the function
