POSITION TITLE: ACCOUNTS CLERK / ACCOUNTS PAYABLE (AP) / ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE (AR) / FINANCE OFFICER

Reports To: Finance Manager

Salary: $68,000 to $76,000 per annual

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Accounts Clerk / AP / AR / Finance Officer at JH Group NT is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This role ensures accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable, maintenance of financial records, bank reconciliations, and assistance with financial reporting. The position plays a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring correct coding and approval.
  • Prepare and process weekly and monthly payment runs.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding invoice queries and payment terms.

2. Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Generate and issue customer invoices in accordance with agreed terms.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Process customer receipts and allocate payments accurately.
  • Maintain customer account records and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Assist with credit control and debtor management.

3. Banking & Reconciliations

  • Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and supported by documentation.
  • Identify and investigate variances, resolving issues in a timely manner.

4. Financial Reporting & Support

  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Support end-of-month and end-of-year closing processes.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and journal postings.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting as required.

5. Compliance & Record Keeping

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records for audit and review purposes.
  • Assist with BAS, GST, and other statutory reporting where required.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.

6. Administrative & Finance Support

  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team.
  • Assist with improving finance processes and internal controls.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate financial information.
  • Perform ad-hoc finance-related duties as required by management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. Education: Preferable: Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or working towards).
  2. Experience: Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or finance roles is preferred.
  3. Skills:
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Sound understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
