Who we are looking for

For our Milan office, we are looking for a Java Developer profile with at least 3 years of experience.

REQUIRED REQUIREMENTS

Technical Knowledge:

Must:

• Java: solid OOP fundamentals (inheritance, interfaces, equals/hashCode, polymorphism), Collections, and Stream API
• Knowledge of main relational databases and SQL language
• Experience in designing, developing, and integrating REST APIs and SOAP services
• Web fundamentals: Semantic HTML, CSS (box model, flexbox/grid), JavaScript ES6 (scope, async/await, DOM), React,

Plus:

• Knowledge of Web/Application Server configuration and management
• Knowledge of design patterns (MVC, Singleton, DAO/DTO/Service) and separation of concerns principles
• Knowledge and use of Git (branching, merge/rebase, git flow)
• Notions on REST services and the end-to-end flow of a web application (frontend → API → service → DB)
• Knowledge of Freemarker language and YAML data serialization format
• Experience with SpringBoot microservices
• Experience with Spring Framework

Other requirements:

• Good knowledge of English, written and spoken
• Good problem-solving, analysis, and work organization skills
• Collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team, even in structured project contexts
• Availability for short business trips, including abroad
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications in Java, applying OOP principles (inheritance, interfaces, polymorphism) and best practices on equals/hashCode
• Implement business logic using Collections and Stream API for efficient data manipulation
• Design and execute SQL queries, and collaborate on relational database modeling
• Design, develop, and integrate REST APIs, as well as integrate SOAP services with external or legacy systems
• Contribute to the integration between frontend and backend, ensuring end-to-end consistency and performance

What we offer

The announcement is aimed at hiring profiles with various levels of experience and seniority. The economic proposal will be defined based on the professional experience gained, the technical skills possessed, and the level of responsibility required by the role.

At Open Reply, we apply the CCNL Metalmeccanica Industria; the classification will be evaluated starting from level B1, and the gross annual salary (RAL) will be between €31,000 and €46,000.

Experience with integration protocols and standards for agents (e.g., Model Context Protocol), agent orchestration and multi-step workflow frameworks, retrieval pipelines on company knowledge bases (RAG, embeddings and vector stores), context engineering and design of tools exposed to LLMs, as well as systematic evaluation and observability of AI applications in production, will be of particular value. This also includes the development and integration of enterprise AI solutions based on cutting-edge LLMs.

In addition to the fixed salary, the economic package may include bonuses and other benefits provided for the position.

The position includes a permanent employment contract and the possibility of occasional business trips, depending on project needs.
