Job Requirements

• You have a completed HBO or WO degree, for example in the direction of information technology, information security, integrated security studies, cyber security, data science, business administration, computer science, or architecture, etc.;

• You possess the competencies of courage, learning ability, and teamwork;

• You speak and write Dutch fluently (C1) and English is a plus;

The stated salary is based on your work experience and educational background and on a full-time working week of 38 hours. Upon commencement of employment, you can also choose to extend your working hours to 40 hours.

At the Ministry of Defence, instead of holiday allowance or a year-end bonus, you accrue an Individual Choice Budget (IUB) every month. This is 16.33% of your gross annual salary. You can use it to buy extra leave hours or for tax-deductible expenses such as paying for a gym membership and repaying your student loan.
In addition to a pension scheme with ABP, you receive a monthly contribution for commuting or you can opt for a public transport pass with unlimited travel throughout the Netherlands under favorable conditions.

We also believe it's important that you can balance your work with your private life. Various leave schemes, such as 75% paid parental leave, and flexible working hours contribute to a good balance.
Furthermore, you can work from home at the Ministry of Defence, and you will receive a reimbursement for home working days. You can have purchased home working equipment reimbursed to set up your home office.

Shortly before that, after completing my Bachelor's degree in Human Movement Sciences and a minor in AI, I was looking for a traineeship. I wanted to start working, but I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do precisely.
When I came across the vacancy for the Young Professional program, I was immediately enthusiastic. I knew I wanted to do something with IT, but you don't have to put me behind a computer all day programming. After various discussions with the competence managers and clients within JIVC, the role of project manager turned out to be a good fit for me. So far, I'm really enjoying it! I learn new things every day, I have the opportunity to follow relevant courses, and I have great colleagues. If you happen to realize that a role doesn't quite suit you, the program offers the flexibility to switch. This way, you can calmly figure out which role or type of work truly suits you.
What makes the program extra fun is that I was hired together with eleven peers. Although we all work in different departments, we see each other monthly during joint training sessions and fun outings that we organize ourselves. This group now feels more like a group of friends than a group of colleagues!”
