IT System Engineer Linux (m/f/d)

We are looking for an IT System Engineer Linux (m/f/d) effective immediately.

Responsibilities

For the further development of our IT infrastructure, we are seeking a technically adept individual who will reliably manage our heterogeneous system landscape and gradually develop into advanced architectural and conception tasks.

The position is suitable for both experienced IT System Engineers and qualified professionals who already possess a solid technical foundation and wish to take on more responsibility for infrastructure, architecture, and technical standards in the future.

• Administration, operation, and further development of our Linux-based server environment
• Support of various Linux distributions and central infrastructure services
• Provision and operation of containerized applications and services
• Participation in the further development of our server, virtualization, network, and container infrastructure
• Conception and support of monitoring, backup, and recovery solutions
• Analysis and resolution of disruptions in the server, network, and application environment
• Technical support for infrastructure, migration, and digitalization projects
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, operating manuals, and architecture overviews
• Gradual assumption of additional technical and architectural responsibility

Qualifications

Ideally, you will bring the following:

• Completed degree in Computer Science or Business Informatics, or an apprenticeship as a certified IT specialist for system integration, or a comparable qualification
• Practical experience in the administration and support of IT infrastructures
• Good knowledge in operating Linux servers
• Experience with at least one common Linux distribution, such as Ubuntu or AlmaLinux
• Knowledge in the operation of typical server services
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker
• Basic knowledge in the areas of virtualization, networking, and IT security
• Willingness to familiarize yourself with different technical platforms and complex system landscapes
• Structured, self-reliant, and solution-oriented way of working
• Good communication and documentation skills
• Very good German language skills and good technical English language skills

Knowledge in the following areas is an advantage:

• Automation with Ansible, Bash, Python, or PowerShell
• Infrastructure-as-Code and Git-based operating processes
• Monitoring solutions such as Zabbix, Icinga, Prometheus
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, routing, and firewalling
• Reverse Proxies, Web Servers, and Load Balancers
• Knowledge in the areas of monitoring, backup, patch management, and system hardening
• Storage, database, and high-availability solutions
• Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
• Hybrid cloud and on-premises architectures
• Network segmentation and modern security architectures
