IT Supporter for Non-Profits (m/f/d)

Full Time Lead

Job description

We are the backbone of several non-profit organizations in Berlin. We build reliable and secure IT solutions so that associations, foundations, and NGOs can concentrate on what matters most: their mission. With us, you are not an anonymous hotline – but a permanent, welcome IT contact person who makes a real difference with expertise.

Our clients are organizations like the German Children's Fund, the Technologiestiftung Berlin, or the World Bank Group – people who are changing things with their work. And you ensure that their IT functions reliably.

Your Role

You are the first point of contact in daily operations – and you resolve the majority of issues yourself. Within our standards, you act independently: accounts, groups, permissions, software rollouts. You develop the standards themselves together with IT administration – you contribute what you notice in your daily work and identify what can be automated. Those who reach you should feel well taken care of.

Tasks

First & Second Level Support

  • Requests via Slack, Microsoft Teams, Email
  • Analyze problems, find causes, implement solutions cleanly, or escalate them specifically
  • Fast response times, friendly tone, clear language
  • Identify recurring themes and initiate improvements

Accounts, Identities & Permissions

  • Password and MFA resets including clean identity verification – no reset without verification
  • Create and maintain users, groups, and distribution lists in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
  • Assign security groups and permissions – according to the least privilege principle of our standards
  • Assign and keep track of licenses

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Set up, deliver, and collect devices
  • Create and block accounts, cleanly revoke access
  • Welcome packages and initial introductions for new employees of our clients
  • Structured handovers so that nothing gets left behind

End Devices, Software & Rollouts (macOS & Windows)

  • Triage and track hardware problems
  • Package software and roll out via Intune: Windows apps, macOS packages, silent installs, detection rules
  • Roll out updates and patches, keep an eye on compliance
  • Prepare Apple devices for use, from unpacking to the first login: enrollment via Apple Business Manager, Managed Apple IDs etc.

M365 & Google Workspace in Daily Operations

  • Mailbox and inbox problems
  • SharePoint, OneDrive, and Drive: permissions, sharing, structures
  • Teams and Meet setup for new users

User Training & On-site Support

  • Short training sessions on MFA, password managers, and phishing
  • Occasional on-site presence in Berlin: hardware delivery, small training sessions, simple network topics
  • Understandable explanations – even for non-technical people

Documentation & Knowledge Base

  • Record solutions cleanly in tickets
  • Create short user guides ("How do I activate MFA?", "How do I share a SharePoint folder?")
  • Identify recurring topics and co-develop standards

Qualifications

What you should bring

  • Completed apprenticeship as an IT specialist (system integration) or comparable practical experience – ideally with initial professional experience, but you are also welcome with us directly after your apprenticeship
  • Solid foundations in these three areas – you are already more deeply involved in at least one of them:
  • Microsoft 365 – Users, groups, licenses, Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive
  • Apple macOS – in a corporate environment, ideally with Apple Business Manager
  • Windows Client & Server – Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS/DHCP, File Services
  • Initial contact with Intune or a comparable MDM – we will teach you software distribution and packaging if you don't know it yet
  • Confident use of AI tools: you use them to get to solutions faster – but you don't execute a script you don't understand, and you don't enter customer data into tools that are not approved for it
  • Very good German skills (at least C1 level) and good English skills, both written and spoken
  • Class B driver's license – for customer appointments and hardware deliveries in Berlin
  • Patience and friendly demeanor, even with recurring requests
  • You explain technology clearly and understandably

You don't meet every point? Apply anyway – it's more important to us that you work cleanly and want to learn.

Nice to have

  • Initial scripting experience (PowerShell or Shell)
  • Experience with ticketing systems
  • Experience with backup systems, e.g. Synology
  • Interest in the non-profit and NGO environment
  • Desire for further development towards IT administration

Benefits

  • Salary: €40,000 – €52,000 gross/year (depending on experience, pro-rata for part-time)
  • Full-time or part-time (28–40 hours) – we will find a model that fits
  • Meaningful work: you support organizations that make a social impact
  • Small, growing team with short distances – no ticket assembly line
  • Clear standards, but room for improvement – automation explicitly desired
  • AI tools in daily work: provided and desired, with clear rules
  • Growth perspective: We invest in paid further training and consciously develop you further (towards admin, cloud, or security)
  • Inviting office (good coffee!) in Berlin-Schöneberg, home office by arrangement, regular on-site IT visits to clients
  • Regular outings together – team trips to the mountains or the sea
  • Further benefits like gym membership or Deutschlandticket can be discussed in person

Send us your CV – a cover letter is not a must, but we would be happy if you briefly tell us why the position appeals to you.
