About the Company:
As part of the Government's reset of the science, innovation and technology system, on 1 July 2025, AgResearch, Manaaki Whenua - Land Research, Plant & Food Research and Scion merged to form the New Zealand Institute for Bioeconomy Science, trading as the Bioeconomy Science Institute.
This merger has created a world class research organisation of globally significant size and scale, with over 2,000 employees. It brings together fundamental science knowledge and expertise in the natural resources that underpin the bioeconomy and the native estate, alongside applied research capabilities in manufacaturing, agritech and biotech and the food and fibre sectors.
This position sits under the current Scion group of the Bioeconomy Science Institute. Scion specialises in research, science and technology development for the foresty industry, wood products and wood derived materials. We lead new technology development for renewables, bioproducts and energy and the establishment of broader-based circular bioeconomy.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to provide a high level of customer service to Scion staff, customers and the wider IT team. A high level of technical expertise, support and deployment of IT desktop envirnoments is required.
This role is a full-time, fixed term position for 12 months and is based at our Rotorua campus.
About you
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- An indepth knowledge of Microsoft Desktop and Desktop Management Services, including experience in mobile data management.
- Mininum of 3 years' experience in a service desk or helpdesk environment.
- Board understanding of IT technologies, including cloud-based services and platforms, support for Linus platforms would be an advantage.
- Ability to adapt quickly to customer requests, providing solutions in a fast, efficient and friendly manner.
- Team player with a can-do enthusiastic attitude providing support to the wider IT team when required.
- Strong practical and methodically minded, with a proactive approach and focus on problem ownership and resolution.
- Great communication and collaboration skills leading to effective relationships with internal teams, customers and contractors.
