IT Project Leader:in for AI Projects (m/w/d)

We are WE BUILD AI from Cologne and build AI- and Data-Solutions for the Mittelstand and corporations in Germany. At our company, systems are being developed that go into production and earn or save money.

Last year we started and grew by 160 percent. This year we're at 100 percent. We're building a company that will continue to grow in the next few years.

Why this role is different

Our projects are technically deep. It's about LLM applications, Machine Learning, Data Platforms, and classical software with Backend and Frontend, often everything in the same project. You don't have to write every line of code yourself. But you must understand what the team is building, why an architectural decision has consequences, and when a timeline is realistic.

Tasks

• You lead multiple AI projects parallel, from planning to productive solution
• You steer interdisciplinary teams and are the central point of contact for our customers
• You keep budget, timeline, and quality in mind and actively monitor progress
• You translate between technology and business, so that everyone speaks the same language
• You develop our delivery processes further

Qualification

• Experience in leading complex IT or software projects, ideally in an agency or consulting environment with multiple projects running parallel.
• You can follow an architecture diagram, understand why an API decision has consequences, and won't let anyone tell you to draw a line where there isn't one.
• First encounters with AI, LLMs, Machine Learning, or Data Engineering, or the genuine curiosity to dive in quickly.
• Safe handling of agile methods like Scrum or Kanban, without making it a religion.
• You point out risks before they escalate and also tell customers when something isn't working.
• Fluent German and good English, because our projects play in the DACH region.

How the application process works

Three steps, transparent and without surprises.

1. Getting-to-know call with Frederic, about 30 minutes. We'll talk about you, us, and see if the foundation is right.
2. Test task for home plus presentation in the call, 45 to 60 minutes. You'll work on a technical task that fits what you'd really do here.
3. Getting-to-know session on site in Cologne. Joint dinner, insights into our projects, and sparring with the team.
