Job description
Do you enjoy working with Linux, solving technical problems, and want to actively modernize IT?
PST Gruppe in Heiligenhaus is a service company in the repair, refurbishment, and logistics of technical equipment. With around 85 employees, we ensure every day that technology works again and devices can be used for as long as possible.
We also want to further develop our own IT: away from historically grown structures, towards a modern, lean, and reliable IT landscape. In the future, we will increasingly rely on Linux, open-source solutions, digitalization, and intelligent automation.
For this, we are looking for someone who not only solves IT problems but also thinks along, questions existing solutions, and actively shapes change.
Your Tasks
IT Support and User Assistance
Be the central point of contact for our employees with technical questions and problems.
Provide support for workstations, printers, label printers, handheld scanners, tablets, and other IT devices.
Set up workstations, install software, and manage user accounts and access rights.
Analyze disruptions and find pragmatic, sustainable solutions.
System Administration and Infrastructure
Manage our existing IT infrastructure with local servers, networks, and workstations.
Perform basic administration tasks, for example, with network services and virtual machines.
Ensure regular security updates, system maintenance, and control of existing backup processes.
Collaborate with external IT service providers and security specialists on more complex tasks.
Linux and Modernization
Actively support the planned migration from Windows to Linux on workstations and in parts of the server landscape.
Contribute knowledge in Linux distributions such as Linux Mint or Ubuntu.
Select and set up suitable open-source solutions and support their introduction.
Develop suggestions on how our IT can be simplified, standardized, and operated more economically.
Digitalization and Further Development
Question existing processes and identify opportunities for digitalization and automation.
Develop modern workplace concepts together with management, such as with a more sensible use of tablets, smartphones, and central communication solutions.
Explain technical options understandably and advise on IT decisions.
Technically coordinate internal developers and external service providers without having to develop software yourself.
What You Bring
Good practical Linux knowledge, especially with desktop distributions like Linux Mint, Ubuntu, or comparable systems.
Experience in user support and handling PCs, printers, scanners, and other end devices.
Basic knowledge in networking, system administration, and operational IT security.
Sufficient Windows knowledge to manage the existing environment and support the future migration – you don't have to be a Windows specialist.
An IT education or comparable, demonstrable practical experience; qualified career changers are welcome.
Independent, structured way of working and the ability to explain technology understandably even to non-IT professionals.
Your attitude is particularly important to us: You don't just wait for the next fault report, but recognize potential for improvement and make things simpler and better. You also know when external specialists are needed.
What We Offer You
Permanent employment with a six-month probationary period.
Part-time approx. 30 hours per week
Largely independent management of internal operational IT.
Direct collaboration with management and plenty of room for your own ideas.
A varied technical environment and the chance to help shape a Linux- and open-source-oriented transformation.
External support for complex infrastructure and security issues.
Primarily work at the Heiligenhaus site; remote work after onboarding and by arrangement, provided on-site support is ensured.
Appropriate remuneration based on experience and qualifications.
Does this sound like your task?
Then we look forward to receiving your application via JOIN. We are particularly interested in what practical experience you already have with Linux and how you approach improvements.
By the way, fitting our company culture, we have switched directly to using "Du" (informal 'you'). So you are welcome to use "Du" with all contact persons in our company. It's up to you
We look forward to getting to know you!
