IT - Director:in (CTO)

We are a young team from the RWTH-Aachen area, making the energy transition practical: With Calvergy, we're building a KI-based platform that depicts corporate energy systems as digital twins, compares options like heat utilization, combined heat and power, heat pumps, cogeneration, photovoltaics or batteries, and derives clear and sustainable supply concepts from them.

Our vision: A tool that's so simple that you can find viable solutions for complex energy systems with just a few clicks – intuitive, fast, and reliable. This way, users will save time and effort and find optimal solutions to reduce energy costs by up to 25% and significantly lower CO2 emissions.

You'll work directly with the founding team, test ideas quickly with real users, and see your impact immediately. Short paths, a lot of ownership, and a true start-up tempo.

Aufgaben

**Your role as Co-Founder & CTO:**

Technical & entrepreneurial overall responsibility

• Mitgestaltung der Unternehmensvision, -strategie und des Geschäftsmodells als gleichwertiges Mitglied des Gründerteams
• Definition and implementation of the technical overall strategy for Calvergy
• Aufbau einer skalierbaren, wartbaren und zukunftssicheren Plattform-Architektur
• Technical decision-making responsibility towards investors, partners, and customers
• Product & platform development

End-to-End-responsibility for the software architecture (Backend, Frontend, DevOps, Data/ML)

• Architektur und Skalierung unserer Backend-Systeme (z. B. Python, FastAPI/Django, Datenpipelines)
• Tight connection between simulation, KI/Optimierungsmodellen and product logic
• Sicherstellung von Code-Qualität, Performance, Sicherheit und technischer Exzellenz
• Tight cooperation with users to translate real problems into marketable products

Team building & leadership

• Aufbau, Führung und Inspiration eines schlagkräftigen Tech-Teams
• Recruiting, Mentoring and further development of developers and data talents
• Definition of development processes, engineering culture, tooling and quality standards
• Schnittstelle zwischen Technik, Produkt, Vertrieb und externen Partnern
• Hands-on mentality (especially in the early phase)
• Aktive Mitarbeit an kritischen Komponenten im Backend, Frontend und in der Cloud-Infrastruktur
• Aufbau von DevOps-Strukturen (CI/CD, Cloud, Monitoring)Schnelles Prototyping, Validierung und Iteration neuer Features gemeinsam mit Kund:innen

Qualifikation

Your profile

• Mehrjährige Erfahrung als CTO, Tech Lead, Lead Engineer oder Senior Full Stack Developer – or comparable entrepreneurial experience
• Sehr starke Kenntnisse in System- und Softwarearchitektur (idealerweise Python + moderner Cloud-Stack)
• Erfahrung mit Frontend-Technologien (z. B. React, TypeScript)
• Fundiertes Verständnis von skalierbaren Plattformen, APIs, Datenarchitekturen und verteilten Systemen
• Erste Erfahrung im Aufbau und Führen von Teams
• Unternehmerisches Denken, Ownership-Mindset and high intrinsic motivation
• Bereitschaft, Verantwortung zu übernehmen – technisch, strategisch und menschlich
