IT Administrator
Job description
The Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) in Aachen has been standing for practice-oriented research and innovation in plastics technology since 1950. To strengthen our IT team, we are looking for an IT professional (m/w/d) who appreciates a versatile task field in a dynamic environment and reliably supports our infrastructure in daily operations and projects.
You can expect a varied task field at the interface between research, teaching, and industrial practice. You will work in a dynamic environment with short distances, diverse requirements, and room for independent solutions.
Tasks
- Network management, particularly DHCP- and MAC-management, as well as cabling and basic network infrastructure
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of workplace computers (rollout, updates, error analysis, lifecycle)
- Installation, operation, and maintenance of the server infrastructure, including Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, file server, databases, and virtualization environments with various services
- Consultation of the departments and planning and implementation of procurements (hardware and software, licenses, peripherals)
- Implementation of individual IT projects with changing focal points (from optimizations in operation to new services)
Qualification
- Completed training or degree in the IT field (e.g. Fachinformatiker:in Systemintegration) or comparable qualification
- Practical experience in administration and operation of Windows-based infrastructure and ideally Linux-based systems, as well as virtualization
- Basic understanding of networks (addressing, DHCP, switching/cabling) and structured troubleshooting
- Independent, service-oriented working style and enjoyment of diverse tasks in a research-oriented environment
- Good German and English skills are an advantage
