Job Description Head – Iron Ore Procurement (Captive Mining & Merchant Sourcing) Location: Kolkata (Head Office) Reporting To: Director Raw Material Role Purpose To lead and optimize iron ore procurement through a captive mining–linked sourcing model , supplemented by merchant miner sourcing , ensuring uninterrupted supply of ~20,000 TPD for integrated steel plants while maximizing cost efficiency, grade optimization, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Captive Mining–Linked Procurement: Develop and implement strategies to ensure seamless integration with captive mines; negotiate and manage contracts with mining companies to secure iron ore supplies; optimize logistics and transportation processes to minimize costs and environmental impact. Merchant Sourcing: Identify and evaluate potential merchant miners to supplement captive supply; negotiate and manage contracts to secure iron ore supplies; monitor and report on supplier performance and compliance with regulatory requirements. Supply Chain Management: Oversee the entire procurement process, from sourcing to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective supply of high-quality iron ore; develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards; stay up-to-date with changes in regulatory requirements and implement necessary adjustments to procurement processes. Grade Optimization: Analyze and optimize the quality and grade of iron ore supplies to meet customer demands and minimize waste; develop and implement strategies to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of procurement operations. Cost Efficiency: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities throughout the procurement process, from sourcing to delivery; negotiate and manage contracts to secure the best possible prices for iron ore supplies. Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports and analysis on procurement performance, including key metrics such as supply chain costs, lead times, and quality ratings; identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address them. Team Management: Lead and manage a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the successful execution of procurement operations.
