Job description

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and curious Investment Analyst to build and manage a strategic equity portfolio for our group. This new role is designed for someone who thrives on independent thinking, is energized by building processes from the ground up, and wants to apply financial expertise in a context where industry knowledge gives us an edge.

You will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and monitoring equity investments in companies that operate within or adjacent to our core sectors. The leadership team has already identified an initial list of companies for review, and you will build on this by expanding the pipeline with your own ideas.

You will present investment theses to ExCom, and remain actively engaged post-investment — attending shareholder meetings, monitoring developments, and maintaining relationships with company leadership, colleagues and experts. You’ll report to the VP of Finance and collaborate broadly across the business to develop the deep insight needed to make sound investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opportunity Screening & Idea Generation: Build a structured process for sourcing and screening opportunities, starting with a pre-defined watchlist and evolving into a dynamic, insight-led pipeline.
  • Investment Analysis & Presentation: Conduct in-depth research and financial modeling to support investment cases on quoted companies. Present these ideas clearly and persuasively to the ExCom and communicate the key learnings and market trends to the Tessenderlo BU’s.
  • Internal Relationship Building: Engage regularly with leaders and experts across business units to develop a deep understanding of our operations, strategic context, and potential adjacencies.
  • Portfolio Management: Actively monitor held positions — follow up investor calls, were relevant attend shareholder meetings or interact with management, and stay informed on relevant market developments.
  • Process & Structure Development: Help define and embed a consistent investment process, including screening tools, reporting structures, and decision frameworks.
