Job description
Are you ready to be a technology leader in the SaaS space? Join epilot!
epilot is developing a SaaS product for the online sale of complex products – with the goal of reshaping e-commerce in the rapidly changing energy market. Our mission: To make selling complex energy products as easy as buying a pair of shoes online.
About the role
We are looking for an Integration Solutions Engineer who will build the technical bridge between our platform and our customers' system landscapes – ERP systems, third-party APIs, cloud services, and external partners.
This is more than a classic engineering role: You will work directly with our customers on integration projects – from initial requirements gathering through technical conception to go-live. You will understand the processes and system landscapes on the customer side, translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, and guide the implementation as the technical point of contact end-to-end. You will write production-ready code, design reliable data flows, and be solely responsible for your projects from start to finish – without intermediate project managers.
If you love developing technical solutions together with customers, penetrating the complexity of real-world system landscapes, and independently leading integration projects to success, then this role is exactly right for you.
Check out our promise to you: promise.epilot.cloud
What awaits you
Independent leadership of integration projects – from requirements analysis with the customer, through architecture, to productive deployment.
Direct collaboration with our customers and their IT teams: You are the technical contact person, conduct workshops, coordinate interfaces, and guide the entire integration process.
Building and maintaining integrations between the epilot platform and external systems (ERPs, third-party APIs, partner services)
Design and implementation of event-driven, asynchronous data pipelines
Direct collaboration with integration partners and ERP providers – from requirements gathering and troubleshooting to continuous coordination
Definition and management of the cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Ensuring reliable, traceable, and resilient integrations – with clean error handling, not just for the ideal case

What you bring
Experience in technical project work with customers – you can gather requirements, communicate technical concepts clearly, and independently manage integration projects
Strong communication skills in a partner environment – you manage external relationships independently, follow up, assert yourself when necessary, and keep integrations on track – without a PM having to do it for you
Production-ready programming skills – you write backend code that runs reliably in production, not just prototypes
Cloud experience (AWS preferred) – you have already performed deployments in the cloud and managed infrastructure with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
Event-driven architecture & asynchronous messaging – you understand message queues, pub/sub patterns, and know why they are crucial for integration work
REST API design and usage – you develop and consume APIs as a central part of your work
Authentication mechanisms – you know OAuth2 and API key authentication and when to use which
Reliability patterns – Retries, idempotency, Dead-Letter Queues, and Circuit Breakers are standard practice for you, not afterthoughts
Serverless fundamentals – you understand the paradigm and can assess when it makes sense (practical experience is a plus, not a requirement)
German language skills – You communicate confidently in German and English – in direct exchange with German-speaking partners and providers as well as in international team contexts.
Your mindset
Ownership: You take responsibility for what runs in production.
Product thinking instead of ticket thinking.
Pragmatic problem solver.
You are comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
What we offer you
At epilot, we believe in rewarding performance, fostering growth, and creating an environment where you can thrive:
A 100% serverless AWS product in productive use.
Impactful work: Shape the integration backbone of a product that is redefining the energy sector.
Startup mentality: Dynamic environment, flat hierarchies, open communication.
Flexibility: Work remotely or from our centrally located office in Cologne – with flexible working hours.
Growth opportunities: Your career can grow as fast as we do. Learn, experiment, and live the "Fail Fast and Often" mentality.
Attractive compensation: We take your salary expectations seriously and reward performance.
Team spirit: Regular events such as summer parties, joint breakfasts, and our annual DevSummit, epilot Summit with co-epilots from all over the world.
Transparency & openness: Everything is negotiable with us – in an inclusive and supportive company culture.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, disability, or sexual orientation!
