Installation Manager High and Low Voltage Rail

A contractor is about to start the energy supply for the metro. You will oversee, review the plans, and, if it is safe, give the signal to begin. As a strategic installation manager, you ensure that colleagues and partners work safely with electricity: from high voltage and low voltage to DC traction. This way, electrical safety within the metro area is always properly and demonstrably managed.

What you will do

You are the formally designated installation manager for both high and low voltage, as well as the traction system. This means you set the course for safe working. You provide instructions to colleagues, explain what is needed to safely switch, work, or inspect, and you support them with clear guidelines and coaching. You keep safety documents, audits, and procedures up-to-date and ensure they align with practical application.

You will be involved in major projects from the outset. Think of renewing rectifier stations or preparing for an energy upgrade to enable the growth of the metro network. You will review design choices, assess whether they meet safety frameworks, and determine together with project teams what is needed to build and test safely. You will also identify risks, such as potential arc flash scenarios, and translate them into practical measures, training, and improvements in safety policy.

Additionally, you will ensure that training and instructions for employees working with electrical installations are up-to-date. You will develop and improve training materials and align the safety handbook with daily practice. You will work closely with colleagues from the switching watch, whom you will functionally direct.

And sometimes the work requires quick decisions. For example, when there is water in a tunnel or when an energy supply fails. You will then maintain an overview, determine what is safe, and direct until the situation is under control. You move throughout the entire metro area and have a clear responsibility: if you doubt safety, work stops. It's that simple, and that important is your role.

• You can assess (electrical) technical risks
You have sufficient electrical engineering insight to analyze designs, modifications, and installations and to determine if they can be used safely. You clearly explain *why* something is or isn't possible, so colleagues and contractors understand the choices needed in the metro area.
• You are strong in structure and assurance
You work meticulously and keep procedures, instructions, and safety documentation up-to-date. You can organize information and translate it into practical guidelines, so audits and work processes demonstrably continue to meet the standards crucial for this role.
• You can coach people and involve them in safety
You know how to guide others clearly and respectfully. You identify desirable behavior, provide examples, and help colleagues and contractors increase their safety awareness, for instance, by explaining why certain actions are risky and which alternatives are safer.
• You take responsibility and dare to make decisions
If a situation requires intervention, you don't shy away from it. You dare to halt work if safety requires it, and you can make decisions under time pressure. During failures or emergencies, you maintain an overview and choose a direction that reduces risk.
• You can exert influence without formal hierarchy
You functionally direct the switching watch and other safety roles. You do this by communicating clearly, guarding frameworks, and with conviction indicating what is needed—for example, when a switching operation or work situation does not meet safety agreements.

Developable within the role

• Experience with high and low voltage or traction systems
• Familiarity with complex infrastructure environments such as public transport, energy, or aviation
• Certifications such as NEN 3140 / 3840 / 1010: are a plus, but you can also obtain them with us.

• A salary of at least € 4,170 and a maximum of € 6,004 gross based on 36 hours per week (scale 10A). Placement will be based on experience and education.

You will join a small but close-knit team within Rail Infrastructure, along with an asset manager, three maintenance engineers, and an inspector. Together, you will ensure the safety and reliability of the energy supply and installations for the metro, now and for the future. You fulfill an independent, strategic role within this structure, but you are never alone.
