Installation Manager

What you will do

You are the formally designated Installation Manager for the electrical systems of the Rolling Stock. This means you set the guidelines for safe work on vehicles. You give instructions to colleagues, explain what is needed to safely measure, test, switch, or repair, and you support them with clear guidelines and coaching. You keep safety documents, audits, and procedures up-to-date and ensure they align with the practical reality in the workshops and depots.

From the outset, you are involved in technical projects. Think about the introduction of new metros or trams, modernizing drive systems, or implementing new battery or charging systems. You assess design choices for electrical safety, actively contribute to project teams, and determine which measures are necessary for safe testing, modification, and delivery. You also identify risks, such as potentially dangerous residual voltages or fault scenarios in control systems, and translate these into practical measures, training, and improvements in safety policy.

Furthermore, you ensure that training and instructions for employees working on vehicles are up-to-date. You develop and improve training materials, support the Training department, and continuously align the safety handbook with daily practice. You work closely with workshop management, quality professionals, and safety experts.

Sometimes, the work requires quick decisions. For example, when an electrical fault occurs during a test run or when a vehicle unexpectedly remains live. You maintain an overview, determine what is safe, and make adjustments until the situation is under control. You move through all rolling stock locations and bear a clear responsibility: if you doubt safety, work stops. It's that simple and that important is your role.

• You can assess electrical risks in vehicle systems: You have sufficient electrical engineering insight to analyze vehicle designs, modifications, and installations and determine if they can be safely used or worked on. You clearly explain why something is possible or not, so colleagues and suppliers understand which choices are necessary.
• You are strong in structure and assurance: You work carefully, keep procedures and instructions up-to-date, and ensure that audits and processes demonstrably comply with the standards crucial for this role.
• You can coach people and involve them in safety: You know how to guide others in a clear and respectful manner. You increase safety awareness by explaining why actions are risky and how they can be done more safely.
• You take responsibility and dare to make decisions: If intervention is necessary, you do it. You dare to stop work if safety requires it and remain calm during faults or incidents.
• You can exert influence without formal hierarchy: You functionally manage safety roles and technical disciplines by communicating clearly, monitoring frameworks, and indicating clearly what needs to be done to work safely.

Developable within this role

• Experience with electric vehicle systems or traction technology
• Familiarity with complex technical environments such as rail, energy, or automotive
• Certifications such as NEN 3140 / 1010

• A salary between € 4,170 and € 6,004 gross per month based on 36 hours (scale 10A), placement will be based on knowledge and relevant experience.

Your team

You will join the KVAM department, where quality, safety, occupational health, and the environment are central. Within the Advisory & Management department, you will work with safety experts, trainers, and policy advisors. The team is knowledgeable, collegial, and driven to continuously improve the technical expertise and safety culture within Rolling Stock. You fulfill an independent, strategic role, but you are never alone.
