What you will do

As an Installation Technician Electrical Engineering, you will ensure that complex electrical installations on naval ships remain safe, reliable, and deployable. You will perform maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and modifications, and analyze malfunctions until you have found the cause. You work independently, make technical decisions, and coordinate activities with other technical disciplines. With your electrical engineering expertise, you will keep installations operational that are essential for the deployment of our ships.

You will work on complex electrical, measurement and control technology, and automated installations. You will inspect and test installations before starting work and analyze deviations. Based on this, you will determine the approach and coordinate with the work planner or scheduler which personnel, resources, and materials are needed.

You will independently perform maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and modifications. You will read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and standards. You will calibrate installations, perform measurements with advanced measuring equipment, and record the results in reports. After maintenance, you will test the installation and safely put it back into operation. Subsequently, you will hand over the installation with the necessary documentation.

In case of malfunctions, you will analyze the problem based on technical documentation, measurement data, and your own experience. You will determine the cause and repair the defect. You will identify recurring malfunctions and translate them into improvement proposals or a research question for Engineering.

You will collaborate with system technicians, technical specialists, engineers, and colleagues within other production groups. You will also instruct and supervise less experienced employees, trainees, and external technicians. For larger assignments and projects, you will coordinate activities within the Netherlands and, where necessary, abroad.

In addition to the technical work, you will be deployed on a rotating basis in the onboard standby cycle. This may occur both during and outside regular working hours.

• Maintains, repairs, and overhauls complex electrical installations to ensure they remain safe and reliably deployable.
• Inspects, measures, and calibrates electrical and automated installations according to applicable standards.
• Analyzes malfunctions, determines the cause, and repairs defects in electrical installations.
• Safely decommissions and recommissions installations, and hands them over after testing with documentation.
• Coordinates technical work and supervises colleagues, trainees, and external technicians.
• Identifies recurring malfunctions and develops proposals for technical improvements and modifications.

What we ask

Must-haves

• You have an MBO-4 qualification in Electrical Engineering, preferably in a maritime direction, or a comparable qualification.
• You have experience with electrical installations and technical systems.
• You can independently analyze malfunctions, perform measurements, and carry out maintenance and repair work.
• You possess knowledge of NEN 3140 and/or NEN 3840.
• You possess VCA VOL or are willing to obtain it.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with measurement, control, and automation technology.
• Experience with advanced measuring equipment and technical reports.
• Experience with supervising colleagues, trainees, or external technicians.
