Job description

You stand at Verrijn Stuart station, observing the lighting in the tunnel. From the front of the metro, you get a perfect view of what's happening. As an energy supply inspector, you are the first to see what works, what can be improved, and what needs immediate attention. This way, you help ensure the metro runs safely every day and the stations remain pleasantly and well-lit. Curious about what your day looks like?

What you will do

You start your day at the main workshop with a cup of coffee and check which inspections are on your list. Then you go into the field. You ride along with a metro to properly assess tunnel lighting or walk around a station where a report has been made. Sometimes it involves a broken fluorescent lamp that can be replaced with an energy-efficient LED fixture, sometimes a more complex issue with an electrical installation.

You visit projects nearing completion, document situations with photos, and discuss your findings with mechanics, work planners, and the asset manager. Your observations help colleagues quickly schedule maintenance or resolve deviations. At the end of the day, you ensure everything is documented and everyone knows what needs to be done. Tomorrow, a different part of Amsterdam awaits you.

Your tasks include:

  • Performing inspections on lighting, distribution cabinets, and other electrotechnical installations.
  • Documenting and discussing findings with the asset manager and work preparation.
  • Consulting with mechanics and project teams about safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Assessing reports on-site and advising on follow-up actions.

What you bring

You have an MBO-4 diploma in electrical engineering or a comparable level. You work meticulously, communicate easily, and enjoy working outdoors and on various locations. Experience with electrical inspections or additional certifications is an advantage, but you can also learn a lot within the team.

You recognize yourself in:

  • Interest in technology, public lighting, and rail-related installations.
  • A precise way of working.
  • A desire to further develop within a large technical organization.

What you can count on

You take good care of our travelers, so we take good care of you. You notice that in everything. We offer you:

  • The salary for this position ranges from a minimum of € 3,232,- to a maximum of € 4,539,- gross per month based on 36 hours per week (scale 8). Placement is based on education and relevant work experience.
  • In addition, there is holiday pay, a 13th month, and a 1.5% lifecycle contribution!
  • Free travel in Amsterdam with GVB tram, bus, metro, and ferry, also in your free time. And for a small contribution, your family members can travel along.
  • A contribution towards health insurance of € 84.91 per month.
  • Making grand holiday plans? Do it! You have an average of 21 days off per year, depending on your age.
  • Study facilities, allowing you to continue growing. Your career is your responsibility, so seize that opportunity!
  • Staying healthy and vital with the GVB Health program.
  • An excellent pension scheme with ABP.

Your team

You will join the metro team, a group of sixteen colleagues who are responsible for the maintenance and management of the metro infrastructure. Five colleagues focus on energy supply, and you will work closely with the asset manager and two maintenance engineers. One of them has grown from the role of inspector and will help you get started. The atmosphere is open, communication lines are short, and everyone collaborates to prepare the energy supply for future challenges.
