Job description
IT Metering Engineer
Location: Bucharest
Job Responsibilities:
- Installs, configures, and administers servers, virtual machines, operating systems, and IT services used for metering, AMR, and SCADA Central;
- Administers IP networks, switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN connections between the center, distribution points, and field equipment;
- Configures and monitors cellular connections, APNs, and secure access to gateways and data loggers, in conjunction with the IoT/telemetry team;
- Administers data collection and transport services, including MQTT brokers and the infrastructure components of AMR platforms;
- Ensures the integration of existing and future distribution IT infrastructure into the approved central architecture;
- Monitors the availability, capacity, and performance of the infrastructure and configures alerts for outages, errors, and communication failures;
- Manages accounts, access rights, digital certificates, and authentication mechanisms according to company policies;
- Performs backups of configurations, databases, and virtual machines, and periodically tests service restoration and recovery;
- Applies updates and security measures through planned interventions, with testing and the possibility of reverting to the previous configuration;
- Diagnoses and remediates infrastructure, communication, and data transport incidents, collaborating with vendors and technical teams;
- Collaborates with automation engineers and API integration specialists for SCADA, AMR, and business application connectivity;
- Prepares the IT inventory, network diagrams, IP address records, version control, and operational, backup, and intervention procedures;
- Participates in the testing, commissioning, and handover of the infrastructure and reports progress, incidents, and risks to the Metering PM.
Job Requirements:
- Higher technical education in computer science, computing, automation, electronics, telecommunications, or related fields;
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems, and network administration;
- Practical knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration, including services, system logs, and troubleshooting;
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as Proxmox, VMware, or Hyper-V, and with storage administration;
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, VLAN, routing, DNS, NTP, firewall, and VPN;
- Experience in backup, restore, monitoring, and IT incident management;
- Knowledge of MQTT, TLS, digital certificates, and SQL databases; PowerShell or Bash scripting is an advantage;
- Understanding of data flows between meters, data loggers, gateways, and central platforms; experience with AMR is an advantage;
- Experience with Ignition, ChirpStack, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, or IT/OT networks is an advantage;
- Ability to draft technical documentation, technical-level English proficiency, and availability for travel;
- Category B driver's license.
