Job description
Joining Mines Saint-Étienne means engaging in an institution where science and innovation build a more sustainable future. A school of excellence where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to meeting the challenges of tomorrow.
Ranked among the best engineering schools in France and recognized worldwide, our school, a member of the Institut Mines-Télécom, trains the talents of tomorrow while actively contributing to addressing major industrial, digital, and environmental challenges. With us, you join a community of 500 employees, 2500 students, and participate in an ambitious project: combining academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and positive societal impact.
The Institut Mines-Télécom federates French Grandes Écoles around major industrial, digital, energy, and ecological challenges. With its 8 public Grandes Écoles and 2 subsidiary schools, it is the leading public institute dedicated to engineers and managers. Together, we imagine and build a sustainable future, training the actors who will shape the transitions of tomorrow.
🎯 What we expect from you
As an Engineer, you are at the heart of our missions in research, training, and innovation; assigned to the Provence Microelectronics Center. Within this center, you combine scientific passion with an interest in applied research.
The Secure Systems and Architectures (SAS) department at the Provence Microelectronics Center (CMP) studies the security of electronic components and the data they contain (such as cryptographic keys, software, intellectual property blocks, memory data, etc.) against fraudulent manipulations commonly called hardware “attacks.” The teachers-researchers of the SAS department contribute to the development of hardware, software, and cryptographic protections against these attacks, and more broadly to proposing security solutions for mobile objects.
The SAS department is associated with CEA Leti in a joint team, the EC SAS, currently comprising 32 people.
The recruitment of a Research Engineer in Hardware Security is part of the SecMemPCM project funded by the Région Sud. Your mission is a research mission on the topic of susceptibility to fault injection of new non-volatile memories.
· You will conduct research on the susceptibility of new emerging non-volatile memories (eNVM) to hardware attacks, and particularly to fault injection attacks.
· You will carry out experimental tests to characterize the behavior of various types of eNVMs when subjected to fault injection attacks. You will analyze the results to understand and model the associated mechanisms.
· You will report on the activities and results related to the missions you will be responsible for.
Your ability to work in a project mode and to conduct research will be essential for success.
🔍 What we are looking for
You hold a Master's degree (Bac + 5) or equivalent, or a PhD.
You have scientific skills in Microelectronics and/or Hardware Security.
And ideally:
· With experience in the field of hardware security and fault injection techniques.
· Junior candidates accepted: Yes
· Proficiency in English (C1 level).
Your additional assets:
• You hold a PhD in microelectronics and/or hardware security.
• You have practical experience with fault injection techniques.
