Job description
🚀 Joining Mines Saint-Étienne means committing to an institution where science and innovation build a more sustainable future. A school of excellence where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to meeting tomorrow's challenges.
Ranked among the best engineering schools in France and recognized worldwide, our school, a member of the Institut Mines-Télécom, trains tomorrow's talents while actively contributing to addressing major industrial, digital, and environmental challenges. With us, you will join a community of 500 employees, 2500 students, and participate in an ambitious project: combining academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and positive societal impact.
The Institut Mines-Télécom unites French Grandes Écoles around major industrial, digital, energy, and ecological challenges. With its 8 public Grandes Écoles and 2 subsidiary schools, it is the leading public institute dedicated to engineers and managers. Together, we imagine and build a sustainable future, training the actors who will shape tomorrow's transitions.
At Mines Saint-Étienne, our research centers are the beating heart of our School.
Conceived as true innovation hubs, our five Training and Research Centers articulate their expertise around major industrial, environmental, societal, and technological issues.
Their mission? To imagine the world of tomorrow by combining academic excellence and concrete impact.
Digital, ecological, industrial transitions: the major challenges of our time are also those of the Institut Henri Fayol.
Here, Computer Science, Data Science, Management, Human and Social Sciences, and Environmental Engineering blend together to conceptualize the complex systems of tomorrow: territories, companies, industrial sectors.
📊 Resilience, performance, sustainability… We develop and experiment in close collaboration with socio-economic actors to meet the demands of current transitions.
✨ Interdisciplinary research with high impact, where the human element is always at the center.
🎯What we expect from you
As part of the MACMIA project for scaling up AI skills and professions, you will contribute to the development of educational platforms involving a set of software resources interacting with physical objects, including programmable robots. The primary platform of this type, MaqIT, is managed and maintained by the Institut Henri Fayol, connecting engineers and teacher-researchers who use the platform for practical AI work.
This recruitment aims to support the training activities offered within the framework of the MACMIA project, which is a response to the France 2030 call for expressions of interest on future AI skills and professions, and involves 7 higher education institutions, 3 skills and qualification campuses, 2 competitiveness clusters, 7 companies, 1 skills operator, and France Travail.
Under the direction of the head of the Computer Science and Intelligent Systems (ISI) department, you will carry out a range of engineering tasks. More specifically, the objectives are:
Participate in the improvement of the MaqIT platform: develop interactive interfaces facilitating the use of the platform's connected components (mobile robots, robotic arms, conveyors, various sensors, and actuators)
Maintain software for operating connected components (upgrades and testing)
Integrate new connected components and ensure their operation with the rest of the hardware, particularly by deploying interactive interfaces to facilitate their use
Assist in designing educational content related to the developed platforms and software (for practical work on human-computer interaction, real-world interaction, or knowledge graphs and reasoning)
Define educational scenarios utilizing the MaqIT platform (a guiding theme within the AI Challenge of the Civil Mines Engineer program).
For this project, you will interact with engineers from the Institut Henri Fayol's engineering department and with teacher-researchers.
