Mechanical Design Engineer (H/F)

Our industrial partner, a leading Canadian company in optimizing steam systems, ventilation, and critical applications in industrial engineering, is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their new ASME-certified fabrication workshop located in Laval.

Job Summary :
In this role as a mechanical engineer, you will play a key part in designing and manufacturing equipment such as tubular heat exchangers, plate-and-shell heat exchangers, and pressure vessels conforming to fabrication standards. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with fabrication standards and customer requirements while working closely with the purchasing, quality, and production departments to ensure excellence.

Main Responsibilities :
  • Design equipment conforming to ASME Section VIII, CSA B51, and B52 using Codeware's Compress software;
  • Verify and approve fabrication drawings in compliance with standards and customer orders;
  • Obtain Canadian Product Records (CRN);
  • Develop and implement welding procedures according to ASME Section IX;
  • Provide technical support to the purchasing department to ensure product conformity;
  • Provide technical support to the quality department for producing compliance documents and manufacturer declarations;
  • Participate in audits by regulatory bodies (ASME, RBQ) and customers;
  • Mentor and train a candidate engineer.
Other Responsibilities :
  • Provide technical support to production during fabrication;
  • Collaborate on preparing bids;
  • Support representatives during sales, contract negotiations, and after-sales service;
  • Support the design of piping according to ASME B31.1 and B31.3 for manufactured assemblies;
  • Standardize fabrication and design;
  • Cooperate in research and development.
Requirements :
  • A member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • A member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs de l'Ontario (an asset);
  • Experience in designing and manufacturing pressure vessels;
  • In-depth knowledge of ASME Section II, V, VIII, and IX fabrication standards as well as CSA B51 and B52;
  • In-depth knowledge of Codeware's Compress software;
  • In-depth knowledge of ASME B31.1 and B31.3;
  • Bilingual French and English.
Work Conditions :
  • A permanent daytime position, 40 hours a week;
  • Schedule: Monday to Thursday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm with an hour-long lunch break;
  • Salary offer: negotiable based on experience;
  • A job in person.
