Product Support Engineer – Energy (Product Support Specialist – Energy) *

Product support engineer - Energy

Main responsibilities of the position:

Coordinate the technical aspects of tenders: review of quotes, product selection and compliance, establishment of product costs and delivery times, obtaining technical approvals from the R&E team, etc., to ensure quick, accurate, and complete proposalsDevelop constraint diagrams for new product possibilitiesProvide technical support to customers, the sales and marketing team, and the customer service team.Create customer and quote bills of materials based on R&E approved designsSupport manufacturing and quality teams

Reports to: Technical Support Manager

Primary Workplace: Montreal (Quebec)

Travel Obligation: Occasional

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Coordinate the technical aspects of tenders: review of specifications, product selection and compliance, establishment of product costs and timelines, obtaining technical approvals from the R&E team, etc.Prepare constraint maps for projects in collaboration with sales and marketingMonitor the progress of new product development programs and actively participate in preliminary design reviews. Suggest changes as needed to meet commercial specification objectives. Provide technical support to customers, the sales network, and customer service Provide field support and training to customers for communication and energy products, including support for trade shows.Evaluate competing products, benchmark technical and application specifications, and make recommendationsCoordinate the procurement and assembly of demonstration equipmentCollaborate on engineering evaluations and designs with the Research and Engineering (R&E) team in Montreal.Create customer or quote drawings from R&E approved drawings. Develop conceptual models and proposals based on sales and marketing requestsReview and interpret customer specifications and industry standards concerning product design and validation (e.g., ASTM, CSA, IEEE, etc.)Support workshop document management (Epicor entries, work orders, bills of materials, etc.)Participate in product quality reviews and perform technical analyses as neededSupport manufacturing teams through process reviews, continuous improvements, and tooling designAttend technical meetings, conferences, and specialized courses consistent with the area of responsibility. Professionally represent PLP Canada in all interactions with customers and others

Job Requirements:

Experience / Training / Skill Set:

Engineering degree (Mechanical preferred)Experience in the electric utility market (transmission, distribution, and substation preferred)MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)Understanding of manufacturing processes and documentation such as work orders, bills of materials, etc.

Work Schedule:

Permanent full-time positionWork schedule, 40 hours per week. Due to the nature of the position, there may be variations to this schedule as per company needs.
