Power Systems Engineer

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer — Power Systems Studies

We are a Mexican SME in the power systems sector, in full expansion, and we are looking to add talent to strengthen our engineering team.

Job description:

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our power systems studies team. This is a mid-level responsibility position: you will report to a supervisor, but you will need to be available to travel to plants (mainly in the Tampico/Madero/Altamira, Tamaulipas metropolitan area) to perform field surveys.

Responsibilities:

• Perform field surveys at industrial facilities and generation plants
• Conduct electrical engineering studies: power flows, short circuits, protection coordination, power quality, and electrical network modeling
• Prepare technical reports corresponding to each study
• Work in a team, maintaining good communication and collaboration with other project areas
• Travel as required to plant sites (mainly Tampico, Tamaulipas metropolitan area)

Requirements:

• Electrical, Electromechanical, or related Engineering degree
• Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting power systems engineering studies
• Proficiency in at least one of the following software: PSS/E, EMTP-RV, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, EasyPower, or ETAP
• Knowledge of protection relays from brands such as SEL, General Electric, and Siemens; experience with ABB equipment is also valued
• Availability to travel to plants
• Technical English level (reading of standards and documentation)

Desirable (not essential):

• Knowledge of the Mexican Grid Code and NOM-001-SEDE (Official Mexican Standard for Electrical Installations)
• Familiarity with interconnection procedures before CENACE
• Knowledge of IEEE "Color Books" standards applicable to industrial and commercial power systems studies, for example:
• Red Book (IEEE 141) – Electric Power Distribution for Industrial Plants
• Buff Book (IEEE 242) – Protection and Coordination of Industrial Power Systems
• Brown Book (IEEE 399) – Power System Analysis and Design
• Violet Book (IEEE 551) – Short-Circuit Current Calculation

Position Level:

We are preferably looking for an intermediate-senior profile, although we are open to evaluating junior candidates with demonstrated potential.

Location and Nationality:

Position open to work remotely or in person in Mexico. The salary package is defined based on Mexican salary scales. Although the position is preferably for Mexican talent, we are open to other nationalities as long as they meet the technical requirements and availability to work under this scheme.
