Independent Reviewing Officer

Tameside Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Child Protection Conference Chair to join our safeguarding team. This is a full-time, office-based agency role offering a vital opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people. You will play a key role in chairing Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences, ensuring the highest standards of professional practice are upheld. This role requires immediate availability, so prior experience in chairing Child Protection Conferences is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with social workers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for children. The role will involve chairing meetings, facilitating discussions, and making decisions that are in the best interests of the child. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the child's voice is heard and their views are taken into account. This is a challenging but rewarding role that requires a high level of emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as required. The role is based in our office in Tameside, with occasional travel to other locations as required. The salary for this role is £40,000-£50,000 per annum, depending on experience. The successful candidate will be expected to work 37 hours per week, with occasional flexibility to work longer hours as required.
