Inclusion Leader - Summer Day Camp (4) (SS.26.26)

Job description

Position Description: As a member of Norfolk County’s Summer Day Camp team, the Inclusion Leader works alongside Day Camp Leaders to provide recreational leadership and facilitation across camp programs. In addition to supporting the team, the Inclusion Leader works independently to provide individualized support and adaptations to children and youth with special needs, ensuring their full participation in camp activities. Under the guidance of the Recreation Coordinator(s) and Regional Camp Coordinator, the Inclusion Leader is responsible for: * Providing support to children and youth with special needs within a variety of camp programs. * Adapting activities and modifying the environment to meet individual needs. * Collaborating with camp staff, parents/guardians, and the Recreation Coordinator(s) to ensure the success and safety of all campers. * Communicating with parents/guardians regarding their child’s participation and progress. * Assisting with the supervision of campers, ensuring their safety and well-being. * Participating in camp activities and leading small group activities. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Experience working with children and youth with special needs. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Current First Aid and CPR certifications (or willingness to obtain prior to start date). * High Five® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date). * Must be at least 16 years of age.
