COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Our client is within the fashion accessories / retail sector and is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive In-house Account Specialist to manage designated in-house retail accounts. This position will report directly to the National Sales & Merchandising Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and a hands-on approach to ensuring smooth operations through replenishment, merchandising, and sales reporting. The successful candidate will act as the key link between stores, field merchandisers, and sales management to ensure optimal product performance and store compliance.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Account Management & Analysis

• Review store photographs, sales reports, and stock-holding data to identify replenishment needs.
• Prepare and issue replenishment purchase orders based on sales performance and agreed stock levels.
• Communicate with field merchandisers and sales management to address inconsistencies, out-of-stocks, or merchandising gaps.

Operational Support

• Set up and maintain import tracking sheets for assigned accounts.
• Monitor and track deliveries to ensure stock is received on time and in full.
• Follow up on merchandising calls to ensure store standards are maintained.

Reporting & Communication

• Compile daily/weekly reports on sales performance, replenishment orders, and store execution.
• Present findings and recommendations to management to support decision-making.
• Escalate supply chain or store compliance issues promptly to relevant stakeholders.

Store Engagement

• Conduct periodic store visits to audit compliance, review merchandising execution, and strengthen retailer relationships.
• Provide feedback and guidance to store staff and field merchandisers on improving sales and presentation.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12
• Postgraduate Degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management or related field (Advantageous)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Minimum of 2 years proven experience in a sales or account management role
• Previous retail or FMCG experience advantageous
• Valid drivers license and willingness to travel for store visits when required
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and generate actionable insights
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple accounts simultaneously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in liaising across all levels (store staff, merchandisers, sales management)
• Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, reporting) and other data tracking/reporting systems
• Problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and take initiative while also functioning effectively within a team
