IHV Expert on Transmission and Substations

EDF Power Solutions Pty Ltd is searching for an IHV Expert on Transmission and Substations to join their team. The position is based in Sydney and offers a salary of $115,000 - $135,000 per annum.

The position shall provide expertise on Transmission Line and Substation to Verta Energy Consortium for the development of the New England REZ ’s design in the context of the Network Operator Package RFP launched by EnergyCo.

The Network HV Expert on Transmission and Substations (the Role) reports to the Technical Lead of project which is EDF Australia Transmission Project Manager and to EDF CI2T at a functional level.

The Role will lead the technical relation with the D&C appointed for the New England REZ within the Technical stream of the Verta Energy Consortium and ensure effective communication with his D&C counterparts and EnergyCo.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Supervises the installation, operation and maintenance of electrical power lines and substations
• Responsible for technical choices and design orientation for the technical stream,
• Responsible for evaluating the Reference Design and Technical Specifications provided by EnergyCo,
• Responsible for ensuring that the design complies with the strategic choices expressed by the Verta Energy Consortium in terms of “Whole of Life” requirements,
• Ensure technical options and recommendations are being challenged to maximise the value for the project and minimise technical risks
• Ensures the quality and consistency of input data for the reference and detailed design of the Transmission Lines and Substations
• Support and secure the technical interfaces with other NSP at the REZ boundaries
• Propose optimization and innovation on the design based on EDF projects experience,
• Propose updates of the Technical Specifications to comply with Australian norms and standards, best international standards and EDF projects experience,
• Responsible for Safety in Design process for the Consortium and design compliance with EDF safety guidelines on transmission lines and substation design,
• Responsible for compliance with the quality, costs and deadlines (QCD) associated with the production of studies

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum +10-year experience in the energy industry with on-field experience,
• Minimum of 5-year experience as HV project manager for large scale projects in an international and French context
• Experience in the use of PLS CADD, TOWER
• Technical skills and energy industry experience in HV transmission and substation projects
• Technically astute: the ability to analyse complex issues in relation to HV projects development
• Understanding of risk management and capable of identifying and analysing risk and opportunity implications
• Willingness to learn, develop self
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English language
• High degree of interpersonal skills and demonstrable relationship development and management track record
• Demonstrated exceptional teamwork abilities
• Experience in performance reporting across a range of deliverables
• Good knowledge of CI2T internal design rules and EDF international project experiences
