Job description

At Defensie, we are looking for ICT talent! Do you have an affinity with ICT and do you envision a challenging career? The Signal Corps of the Army provides mobile ICT solutions, such as computer networks, telephony, satellite and radio communications, which are deployed worldwide during exercises and missions. Will you be our new ICT specialist?
Note: if you are hired for this position, you will be appointed as a military 'Signal Corps Soldier' within Defensie.

Do you want to be trained as a driver of a military vehicle to transport, install, and help keep our communication systems operational? As ICT Support within the Signal Corps (Communication and Information Systems), you ensure that your colleagues can continue to communicate with each other during exercises and missions.

Working at the Signal Corps is always challenging work. Communication between soldiers during combat is vital. Technology plays an important role in this. This means that as a Signal Corps Soldier, you work with communication and information systems that keep pace with the latest technological developments. Together with your team, you are responsible for the installation and operation of telephony, satellite, radio communications, and computer networks: our communication and information systems. You work in various locations at home and abroad.

You will be deployed to support Army units during exercises and missions. At the barracks, you will mainly be involved in preparation for exercises and the maintenance of the communication systems and transport vehicles used for this purpose. Additionally, you will work on further developing your basic military skills and expanding your knowledge of the systems you work with. A regular part of your workweek involves working on your physical and mental fitness through joint sports activities.

• VMBO Basic, VMBO Vocational Preparatory, VMBO Mixed, VMBO Theoretical, MBO 2, MBO 3, MBO 4
• Minimum educational requirement is VMBO BB Driver Function Must possess a Civilian Driving License B
• You are between 17 years and 27 years and 11 months old
• Glasses or contact lenses are not a problem.
• You must be able to swim
• Good command of the Dutch language (speaking and writing).

We will train you: Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL); before you start working, you will first complete the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) at one of the schools in Ermelo, Assen, or Oirschot. After your 10-week basic training, you will be placed at a unit and start your vocational training.

WHERE YOU WILL WORK
You will work at a Communication and Information Systems (CIS) unit of the Army. Please note that you will often participate in exercises at home and abroad. Additionally, you may be deployed to a mission area. The CIS unit is part of the Operational Support Command Land (OOCL). The OOCL provides operational support to the combat units of Defensie.

Other employment conditions

Defensie has good secondary employment conditions. Starting from 2025, Defensie employees will no longer receive holiday pay and year-end bonus as separate payments, but will accrue them monthly through the Individual Choice Budget (IKB). The IKB for Defensie employees totals 16.33 percent of the salary. With the IKB, Defensie employees can decide for themselves when, for what, and how much budget they spend on time, money, or fiscal facilities. This can be up to the maximum of the monthly accrued budget.

The IKB can be used for:

• A maximum of 15 percent of the salary can be used monthly for the exchange of the commuting allowance;
• The monthly difference between the allowance for own transportation costs for commuting and the fiscal maximum;
• A bicycle for personal use, including bicycle accessories and bicycle insurance;
• A computer that can also be used for work or study, including computer accessories and computer insurance;
• A battery or electrical parts for a bicycle;
• The payment of union membership fees.
• Defensie expects to further expand the possibilities of the IKB in the future.
• Secondary employment conditions include up to 75% paid parental leave (under conditions), study facilities, extensive sports facilities, an additional leave scheme for the elderly, and a commuting allowance.

Specifics

A security screening (VGB) is part of the application process.

It is mandatory for you as a civilian applicant to have Dutch nationality. The ability to provide a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is a condition for employment. Furthermore, a security screening and reference check may be part of the selection procedure. This involves a background check on criminal records and financial matters, among other things, which takes approximately 8 weeks.

Selection process:
