IB MYP Music Teacher (Vocalist/Instrumentalist) - Bangalore

We are seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Music Teacher to join our non-residential school in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will be a proficient vocalist and/or instrumentalist with a proven track record of teaching Grades 9 and 10 MYP Music and expertly managing its associated assessment and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver the IB MYP Music curriculum for Grades 9 and 10, ensuring alignment with the IB philosophy and standards.

• Foster a creative and inclusive learning environment that encourages musical exploration, performance, composition, and inquiry.

• Develop and implement engaging and diverse lessons that cater to different learning styles and abilities, incorporating both vocal and instrumental skills.

• Guide students through the MYP Music assessment criteria, promoting conceptual understanding and critical thinking.

• Design, implement, and mark rigorous MYP assessments (formative and summative) for Grades 9 and 10, including performance, composition, and inquiry tasks.

• Ensure consistent and accurate moderation of student work according to IB guidelines.

• Maintain detailed records of student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.

• Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on student achievement to parents and school administration.

• Contribute to the school's extra-curricular music program, potentially directing ensembles, choirs, or organizing performances.

• Actively participate in departmental and school-wide meetings, professional development, and curriculum review.

• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary units and school events.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.

• Proven proficiency as a vocalist and/or on a musical instrument.

• A minimum of 2 years of recent, dedicated experience teaching IB MYP Music, specifically for Grades 9 and 10.

• Demonstrable expertise in MYP assessment practices and criteria, including developing unit planners and designing authentic tasks.

• IB MYP Category 1 and 2 training (or commitment to acquiring it).

• Must currently reside in Bangalore or be willing to relocate to Bangalore.

• Fluency in English is essential.
