Job description

HR Business Partner (m/f/d)

Working hours: 32–40 hours/week

Location: North Rhine-Westphalia / Greater Cologne-Düsseldorf area (with 1–2 home office days)

As an HR Business Partner (m/f/d), you will be the central HR expert for Goldwechselhaus, the German subsidiary of our Dutch parent company. You will support the Operations Manager and the Regional Managers in all HR matters. You will combine strategic consulting with a hands-on approach and play a key role in the further development of the HR organization within Goldwechselhaus.

Responsibilities

What are your responsibilities as an HR Business Partner?

As an HR Business Partner (m/f/d), you will act as a strategic sparring partner for the Operations Manager Germany, the Regional Managers, and the central HR Manager in the Netherlands. Based on our HR vision, you will advise on a wide range of HR topics – from complex individual cases and German labor law to organizational and change processes. You will navigate confidently between employees, managers, and company management, and know how to translate complex challenges into practical, tailored solutions.

Goldwechselhaus is in a phase of targeted HR professionalization. This means: you will not only advise but also actively contribute to shaping processes, policies, and a sustainable HR foundation for the future. You will have considerable scope for action to introduce your own initiatives and implement sustainable improvements.

You will proactively identify areas for action, inspire people, and know exactly when advisory support, decisive action, or the delegation of responsibility to the respective manager is appropriate. You will be present in the operational business, regularly visit our locations, and empower managers to lead their teams independently and successfully. In this way, you will strengthen the leadership culture and anchor HR as a sustainable value driver for the business.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table

As an HR Business Partner, you are passionate about change processes and convince with a solution-oriented, hands-on mentality that inspires managers and colleagues alike. You enjoy being close to the business and understand HR as a strategic business partner.

  • Successfully completed business administration degree (University of Applied Sciences/Bachelor), ideally with a focus on Personnel Management / HR, or a comparable qualification (e.g., Business Law or Certified HR Specialist).
  • Several years of in-depth HR professional experience (target approx. 5 years), preferably in an international or German-Dutch, medium-sized matrix organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern HR processes and practical experience in organizational development, change management, and strategic HR fields.
  • Ability to translate corporate guidelines into legally sound, practical local HR solutions, as well as in-depth consulting expertise in German labor and tax law. You will manage contract management according to BGB and ensure legally compliant maintenance of personnel files.
  • Confident operation in environments with short decision-making paths and the flexibility to seamlessly switch between strategic consulting and operational implementation.
  • Excellent, practically proven knowledge of German labor law (including NachwG, BUrlG, KSchG, BGB, BetrVG).
  • In-depth knowledge of German social security law (health, pension, unemployment, long-term care, and accident insurance) as well as SGB, ArbSchG, GDPR, AGG, and HinSchG.
  • Fluent German (written and spoken at a legally sound level) and very good English skills (C2 level). Dutch language skills are an advantage for corporate communication.
  • Experience with HR management systems (AFAS), strong numerical understanding for HR analytics/reporting, and keen organizational sensitivity.

You are characterized by a strong solution orientation and decisiveness; combined with high communication and persuasion skills, a keen sense for organizational contexts, and analytical judgment, you act as a valued HR authority on an equal footing.

Benefits

What we offer you

  • An attractive gross annual salary between €65,000 and €75,000 (full-time basis / 40 hours), depending on your qualifications and professional experience – including annual salary adjustments (inflation compensation), performance-related salary prospects, and a bonus scheme based on transparent SMART goals.
  • A company car, also for unrestricted private use.
  • 28 vacation days per calendar year.
  • Reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs for business trips between Germany and the Netherlands.
  • Modern work equipment (laptop, smartphone – also for private use) and a flexible home office policy (1 to 2 days per week).
  • Attractive employee discount on our entire product range.

Your position in the company

In your role as HR Business Partner, you will operate within a cross-border matrix organization. You will be the central HR contact person for the German market, report hierarchically to the HR Manager, and work closely with the central HR team at the headquarters in the Netherlands. This allows you to benefit from the group's expertise and resources while enjoying maximum freedom to shape local implementation in Germany.

You will work closely with the Operations Manager and the Regional Managers, forming the interface with external partners (e.g., social security institutions, tax advisors). Through this close integration of local management, corporate headquarters, and your HR expertise, we ensure optimal support for the organization.

Who we are

We are Goudwisselkantoor / Goldwechselhaus. What began as a family-run business has developed over more than 40 years into an established trading company for gold, silver, watches, and jewelry – now with over 500 employees in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. Despite our steady growth, we have retained the values of a family business: personal commitment, mutual trust, and a long-term orientation. We maintain short decision-making processes, know each other, and take responsibility together. This is reflected in the high loyalty of our team and the quick integration of new colleagues.
