Comcare is an established Mental Health and Housing provider assisting people with mental health or addiction issues to live well in the community. We provide a rich and diverse range of Mental Health Support Services, Housing and Housing Support Services.



Our services have been developed with the belief good housing is crucial to the maintenance of wellbeing and mental health and can be a key factor in recovery.



About this role

This position is fixed-term to provide cover during an internal secondment period, with the contract concluding on 1 December 2026.



We are seeking a dedicated Housing Facilitator who will fulfil a unique and specialist role in assisting people who are homeless, and supporting clients to find and maintain housing, working with people who experience mental illness, those in recovery from addictions and those referred by the Ministry of Social Development.



What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness to find safe, stable housing.
  • Completing housing assessments and identifying barriers to housing.
  • Helping clients access temporary accommodation and addressing immediate needs.
  • Supporting clients to view and apply for rental and social housing.
  • Advocating for clients' housing needs.
  • Assisting clients to set up and maintain sustainable tenancies.
  • Connecting clients with the community, health, and social services.
  • Keeping accurate records, case notes and completing administrative tasks.



About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The ability to make well considered decisions.
  • An understanding of housing systems and social services (or willingness to learn).
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a supportive team.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Experience in the mental health and social services sector would be an advantage.
  • Applicants must hold a current full, clean driver’s license.

It is desirable that you have a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4.



You will have a cultural awareness, knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
