Head of Estimating

What is expected of you?

• As Head of Estimating, you will take ultimate responsibility for the entire estimating process.
• You will translate price requests into technically sound, feasible, and commercially strong quotations.
• You will supervise an estimating team of four colleagues, distribute tasks, and monitor the quality, completeness, and timely delivery of quotations.
• In close collaboration with sales, project management, purchasing, and production, you will align technical starting points, material choices, planning, and cost prices.
• You will analyze existing cost price models, work with relevant technical and financial data, and ensure a reliable substantiation of each quotation.
• You will strengthen the department's operation by purposefully improving processes, tools, and reporting.
• From your expertise, you will contribute to building a professional estimating department where knowledge is shared, employees grow, and collaboration with other teams runs smoothly.

Who are you?

• You have a technical or analytical background.
• You are strongly analytical and possess a master's degree.
• You bring 5 to 10 years of experience in estimating, quotation preparation, or cost price calculation within construction, metalworking, or carpentry.
• You combine strong numerical insight with commercial awareness: you understand not only how a price is determined but also which choices make a quotation feasible and attractive.
• You use Excel fluently and accurately to structure data, check calculations, and clearly substantiate insights.
• Experience with estimating tools or ERP software is a plus.
• You communicate clearly and act as a connector. This is important for coaching colleagues, aligning expectations with internal partners, and discussing technical information understandably with clients or commercial contacts.
