High Integrity Software Group Leader (Model Based & Embedded Systems)

The Team: You will lead the growing High-Integrity Software (HIS) engineering group within JLR's Vehicle Platform (VP) team at TBSI. This team develops high-integrity propulsion control software for next-generation electric, hybrid and conventional vehicles. The group spans Functional Safety Engineers, High-Integrity Software Engineers, and Process/QA Engineers working on safety-critical embedded control systems. The Role: This role combines line management responsibility with technical leadership responsibilities, requiring a strong understanding of software development methodologies, functional safety standards, and the ability to lead and manage a team of engineers in the development of high-integrity software for automotive applications. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for developing high-integrity software for automotive applications. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement software development processes and methodologies that meet functional safety standards. • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and guidelines (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508). • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering teams, program managers, and customers. • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers on software development best practices, functional safety considerations, and testing methodologies. • Identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvements and implement changes as needed. • Collaborate with the VP team to develop and execute strategies for software development and deployment. • Ensure that all software developed by the HIS group meets or exceeds JLR's quality and reliability standards. The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced leader who has a strong background in software engineering, functional safety, and leadership. You will have a deep understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and V-Model, and experience working with cross-functional teams to develop high-integrity software for automotive applications. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Requirements: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. • At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on high-integrity software development for automotive applications. • Strong understanding of functional safety standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508). • Experience leading and managing teams of engineers in the development of high-integrity software. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
