What you will do

With your expertise in the field of investigation and traffic accident analysis, you can make a significant contribution to the safety of the Netherlands. Within the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, you will work in an environment where technology and investigation come together. As a Senior Employee Investigation Traffic Accident Analysis within the Forensic Investigation Team, you will be responsible for conducting investigations into, among other things, traffic accidents. You will work in a dynamic team focused on collecting and securing sometimes difficult-to-access data. Additionally, you will contribute to national and international security by applying your expertise in these investigations.

Your main tasks are:

• You will be responsible for independently conducting a traffic accident/investigative inquiry.
• Contributing to traffic accident/investigative inquiries by monitoring, evaluating, and improving methods and techniques. You will advise on the quality of ongoing and completed investigations and translate findings into new tools or processes.
• Sharing and developing knowledge by guiding colleagues, translating scientific knowledge into the investigative process, and developing innovative methods and techniques.
• Advising at a strategic level, translating signals and developments in your area of expertise into improvements in tactical and strategic investigative processes.
• Collaborating with chain partners, such as (international) investigative services and scientific experts.
• Continuing your education by studying developments within your field of expertise through literature and by participating in seminars and conferences.
• You will act as an intermediary between (external) experts and the investigation team.

Where you will work

You will work at the Investigation Brigade of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. This brigade conducts investigative inquiries according to the clear rules of the national tactical command. You will be part of the Traffic Accident Analysis Team of Forensic Investigation. Your duty station is Huis ter Heide, but you will also work at other locations in the Netherlands and sometimes abroad.

You will work in an operational environment. Flexibility is important. You will participate in standby duties. This means you may be called upon in the evening, at night, or on weekends. Think of urgent investigations or reports at unexpected times. Sometimes you will have to go to an accident quickly, even abroad. You will be ready to act immediately.

No day is the same. The combination of urgency, variety, and your knowledge makes this work important and challenging.

Before you start as a senior traffic accident analysis employee, you will follow the training for general investigating officer at the Training Center of the Marechaussee in Apeldoorn. If you already have military training (such as AMBV, AMO, EMMV, EMV, or BOKL), you will be exempt from the military part. If you have police training, we will assess if you can join.

The training starts with Basic KMar Training (BKV). You will study subjects such as criminal law, criminal procedure, and official instructions. You will also learn about document control, border police tasks, and military police tasks.

After the basic training, you will follow the General Investigating Officer Program. After that, you will follow the Senior Employee Program (LSM). You will follow additional training courses related to the function later during your work.
