What you will do

As a Group Commander Senior Investigating Officer (GPC SR OPSPAMBT) at the Schiphol Border Control brigade, you will provide daily operational leadership to a group of marechaussees and sergeants who are dedicated to the surveillance of the European internal and external borders. You are the first point of contact for your team during duty and act as a connecting link between the group level and team leadership.

You will work in irregular shifts at one of Europe's busiest airports, ensuring that daily operations proceed safely, effectively, and in a people-oriented manner. With an eye for both task execution and the person behind the uniform, you coach employees, provide feedback, and monitor progress in performance and development.

In addition to your leadership tasks, you will make a professional contribution to carrying out border control duties based on the Schengen acquis. This includes assessing travel documents, executing risk profiles, detecting human trafficking, and identifying trends or deviations.

Where you will work

Before you start in this position, you will first, if you haven't already, complete the training to become a General Investigating Officer at the Training, Education, and Knowledge Center of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (OTCKMar) in Apeldoorn. This training lasts 11 months (including leave).

If you already have a basic military training (such as AMBV, AMO, EMMV, EMV, or BOKL), you will be exempt from the military part. If you have a police training, you can also apply. We will then assess if you can follow the basic military training.

During the training to become a General Investigating Officer, you will start with the Basic KMar Formation (BKV), where you will receive lessons in prosecution, criminal law, and official instructions. The training will also include lessons in document control, border police duties, and international and military police tasks.
