Herd Manager or 2IC/Whangarei

We are seeking an experienced Herd Manager or 2IC to join our dairy operation located in Maugakahia, Titoki, approximately 26km east of Whangarei, Northland.

The Farm:

• Milking 600 cows




• 40 aside herringbone shed with ACRs and auto drafting




• Well-established systems with a strong focus on efficiency and animal welfare




• Supplement feeding on a feed pad




• Feeding silage, PKE and maize

Key Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day herd management and milking operations




• Confident operation of a tractor and feed wagon




• Animal health, pasture management and accurate record keeping




• Supporting the Farm Manager and taking responsibility in their absence (for 2IC role)




• Maintaining a safe, tidy and well-run farm environment

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience as a Herd Manager or Senior Farm Assistant / 2IC




• Confident and competent tractor operator




• Strong stockmanship and attention to detail




• Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude




• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Employment Details & Requirements:

• Minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week




• Salary: $87,256, based on a 50-hour week




• Full New Zealand driving licence required




• Clear criminal record required




• Pre-employment and ongoing random drug testing




• Applicants must be drug free




• Non-smoking farm




• No pets




• On-farm accommodation required due to the operational needs of the role
