Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
Job description
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, diagnosing, and repairing heavy vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role is essential to supporting our daily operations and maintaining our fleet to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs on heavy vehicles, trucks, and related equipment.
- Diagnose faults in engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension, and electrical components.
- Perform troubleshooting using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Inspect and test mechanical systems to ensure compliance with safety and roadworthy standards.
- Repair or replace worn or faulty parts using hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
- Conduct engine overhauls, component rebuilds, and system replacements as required.
- Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and repair documentation.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and ensure vehicles meet operational standards.
- Coordinate with supervisors regarding repair timelines and parts requirements.
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).
- Relevant experience in a heavy vehicle or diesel mechanic role.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent understanding of WHS practices and safe workshop operations.
- Valid driver’s licence (HR licence highly regarded).
