Health Foreman - Dairy Farm

Apt Resources is looking for a dedicated Health Foreman to join our dairy farm team. This role is essential in ensuring the health and well-being of the dairy herd and will involve supervising health protocols, direct animal care, and maintaining high standards of hygiene throughout the farm operations. As the Health Foreman, you will work closely with veterinarians and farm staff to implement and monitor health management strategies. Key Responsibilities * Supervise all aspects of herd health, treatment programs, and disease prevention. * Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians. * Monitor animal health by observing behavior, feeding patterns, and physical condition. * Identify and isolate sick animals, ensuring their proper care and treatment. * Maintain accurate health records, including treatments, vaccinations, and health issues. * Oversee the implementation of biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of diseases. * Ensure proper hygiene and sanitation practices are maintained in all animal areas. * Collaborate with veterinarians to develop and improve health management plans. * Train and supervise farm staff on animal health practices and protocols. * Assist with calving and provide care to newborn calves. * Monitor and manage the use of antibiotics and other medications. * Maintain and manage health-related inventory, including medications, vaccines, and supplies. * Conduct regular health checks and provide early detection of potential health problems. Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus. * Proven experience in dairy farm animal health and husbandry. * Strong understanding of dairy cattle health, common diseases, and treatment protocols. * Ability to administer medications and vaccinations correctly. * Excellent observational skills to identify health problems in animals. * Ability to maintain accurate and detailed health records. * Good communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to train and supervise staff effectively. * Physical ability to perform farm duties, including lifting and working outdoors in various weather conditions. * Knowledge of biosecurity practices and protocols.
