Health and Safety Officer – Cape Town

RPO Recruitment is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our client’s team in Epping, Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a health and safety professional to take ownership of the compliance, implementation, and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental systems in a fast-paced industrial environment. Responsibilities:

• Implement, maintain, and monitor Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) systems in line with legislation and company standards.

• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions.

• Drive awareness and training initiatives to build a culture of safety within the workplace.

• Ensure legal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.

• Assist with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 compliance and audits.

• Maintain HSE documentation and records.

• Liaise with stakeholders on HSE matters and ensure continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate

• National Diploma in Safety and/or Environmental Management (or similar qualification)

• Certificate in Safety Management (SHEMTRAC, SAMTRAC, NEBOSH IGC, or equivalent)

• 3–5 years’ experience in a full-time health and safety role within a manufacturing, engineering, production, or construction environment

• Strong working knowledge of the OHS Act and relevant regulations

• Practical understanding of implementing and maintaining ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 systems

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• Computer literacy (MS Office Suite essential)

• Registration with SAIOSH and SACPCMP is advantageous

• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport

• A hands-on, proactive approach to safety and compliance
