Job Description – Head – Underwriting and New Business Job Summary-: To lead and manage the end-to-end underwriting and new business operations function, ensuring profitable risk selection, optimal turnaround time (TAT), regulatory compliance, superior customer experience, and alignment with the company’s growth and risk objectives. Key Responsibilities: 1. Underwriting Strategy & Governance Define and implement underwriting policies and risk appetite in line with business strategy. Ensure sound judgment and decision-making processes are in place to support profitable risk selection. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, product teams, and regulatory bodies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of underwriting strategies with overall business objectives. 2. New Business Development Identify and prioritize new business opportunities that align with the company’s growth strategy. Develop and execute plans to acquire new customers, products, or services that drive revenue growth and expand the company’s market presence. Foster relationships with key partners, vendors, and suppliers to identify opportunities for collaboration and mutual benefit. 3. Operational Excellence Ensure efficient and effective underwriting and new business operations processes are in place, resulting in optimal turnaround time (TAT) and high-quality decision-making. Develop and maintain metrics and dashboards to track performance and drive continuous improvement. 4. Regulatory Compliance Ensure all underwriting and new business operations comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Stay up-to-date on changing regulations and industry trends to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive. 5. Customer Experience Deliver exceptional customer experience through prompt and accurate decision-making, transparent communication, and proactive issue resolution. Foster a culture of customer-centricity within the underwriting and new business operations teams. 6. Leadership & Team Management Lead and manage a high-performing team of underwriters, new business development professionals, and operational staff. Develop and execute talent management plans to ensure the right people are in the right roles, with the necessary skills and expertise to drive business results. Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the team.
