Head of Software Engineering (m/w/d) for ELMI AI Plattform

We are building the software platform that makes our charging infrastructure intelligent!

ELMI Power develops and markets battery-powered DC fast-charging stations and battery storage systems. With ELMI AI, we're now building the software-side enhancement: a platform that controls our charging stations and battery storage systems – it reads and processes data from the energy management system, analyzes prices of nearby charging stations and adjusts its own pricing dynamically, optimizes recharging strategies for internal batteries and operates active energy trading. A product manager is already on board, initial module prototypes (MVP) exist – now it's about building a robust, production-ready software product.

You're an experienced software engineer with architecture knowledge, have already set up AWS infrastructure from scratch – and still want to code yourself, rather than just planning? Aufgaben

Product Architecture & AWS Infrastructure: Conceptualization and independent setup of a scalable cloud architecture on AWS for the ELMI-AI platform.

● From MVP to Production-Readiness: Evaluation, further development, and partial rebuild of existing module prototypes to a stable, first production-ready version.

● EMS Data Integration: Connection and processing of data from energy management systems of our charging stations and battery storage systems.

● Dynamic Pricing: Technical implementation of market analysis for nearby charging stations and automated dynamic pricing adjustment.

● Charging Strategy Optimization: Development of logic and algorithms for optimizing recharging strategies for internal batteries.

● Energy Trading: Technical implementation of interfaces and trading logic for automated energy trading.

● Technical Team Leadership: Professional leadership of a development team (including nearshore teams), including code reviews and technology decisions.

● Hands-on Coding: Active participation in coding, especially during the critical build phase of the first stable version.

Qualifikation

Experience: Several years of experience as a senior software engineer, tech lead or architect, ideally with setting up a software product from an early phase on.

● AWS & Cloud Architecture: Proven experience in independently setting up and operating AWS infrastructure.

● Hands-on Mentality: Even after years in architecture or leadership roles, you still enjoy coding yourself.

● Platform/IoT Experience: Experience with software that controls distributed, physical assets (e.g. IoT platforms, fleet or asset management, smart grid). Experience with charging infrastructure, EMS or energy trading is a plus, but not required.

● Team Leadership: Experience in professionally leading (remote/nearshore) development teams.

● Pramatism: You make architecture decisions that fit the current company size, rather than over-engineering.

● Languages: Fluent German and very good English for collaboration with the international team. If you have knowledge in Mandarin, it's a big plus
