Head of Software Development (m/w/d)

We are looking for a leading provider of software and cloud solutions in the financial sector, which is reorganizing its development organization. The goal is to bring together several grown software areas into a modern, scalable, and technologically future-oriented unit – with clear processes, high-performance teams, and an engineering culture that promotes responsibility, quality, and progress.

A particular focus lies on cloud architectures, automation, CI/CD, as well as the point-by-point use of KI- and machine learning technologies.

Aufgaben

• Overall responsibility for software development across multiple locations in Germany and Europe

• Leadership, empowerment, and further development of engineering teams (architects, developers, leads)

• Integration and harmonization of two development organizations into a scalable, unified structure

• Building clear processes, roles, and responsibilities in the development area

• Development and implementation of a strategic IT and technology roadmap together with the CTO

• Ensuring modern software architectures (cloud, microservices, automation, CI/CD)

• Introduction of uniform toolchains, quality standards, and release processes

• Shaping and steering complex change processes

• Encouraging a leadership and ownership culture

• Close cooperation with architecture, product, IT security, and business stakeholders

Qualifikation

• Several years of experience in leading software development teams (Head/Director/Engineering Manager)

• Experience in the FinTech-, banking- or comparable regulated software environment is advantageous

• Experience in building nearshoring or delivery centers

• Proven experience in integrating and leading distributed teams

• Strong technical background in modern software and cloud architectures

• Contact with Java/Spring ecosystem as well as microservice architectures

• Competence in CI/CD, automation, and scalable platforms

• Experience or interest in KI/ML integration in software and product architectures

• Experience in defining and implementing technology and IT roadmaps

• Fundamentally experienced in change management and organizational development

• Ability to define processes clearly and sustainably anchor them
