Head of Reinsurance Accountant

Our client, a leader in insurance and risk solutions, is seeking a Head of Reinsurance Accountant to oversee reinsurance financial management across their non-life license. This leadership role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and people management skills to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with IFRS 17, and effective reinsurance operations.

You’ll play a critical role in guiding a team of accountants, implementing accounting policies, managing audits, and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders. This is an opportunity to influence strategic decisions while ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all reinsurance accounting and financial management processes.
  
• Own reinsurance systems, processes, and policies, including IFRS 17 compliance.
  
• Manage reinsurer debtors and creditors effectively.
  
• Oversee internal, external, and reinsurer audits.
  
• Deliver accurate reporting on reinsurance accounting, large loss, and cash calls.
  
• Provide authoritative financial expertise to clients and internal teams.
  
• Drive continuous process improvement, innovation, and team development.
  

Minimum Requirements

• Degree in Financial Management or Accounting.
  
• Professional qualification: CA(SA), CFA, ACCA, or CIMA (advantageous).
  
• 7–10 years’ experience in accounting and/or investments.
  
• 3–5 years’ management experience (leading teams of accountants).
  
• Minimum 3 years’ insurance/reinsurance industry experience.
