As Head of Operations (m/f/d), you will take full responsibility from contract signing to ensure that it becomes a built, approved, and handover-ready system. You will report directly to management, take on the technical leadership of an existing small team, and expand it as required by the realization of the growing project pipeline.

Responsibilities

⚡ Your Tasks

• Planning & Specification – You translate economic and technical framework conditions as well as site requirements into a robust planning concept and manage specifications and external technical planners and consultants.
• Tendering & EPC Award – You prepare tenders, compare offers, negotiate, and award EPC contracts including terms for deadlines, payments, and warranties.
• Construction & Commissioning – You oversee construction and commissioning, manage change orders, ensure grid compliance and acceptance, and handover the system to ongoing operations (O&M) in a structured manner.
• Commercial Management – You are responsible for budget, cost tracking, and change orders per project and make make-or-buy decisions.
• Portfolio & Reporting – You provide reliable status for each project at all times and lean, investor-ready reporting.
• Team Leadership & Development – Technical and organizational leadership of the Operations Team, including onboarding and development.

The role grows with our pipeline: from the independent implementation of projects, through systematization (specification elements, award criteria, standards), to the needs-based expansion of the existing team. What's important to us: You actively drive project realization yourself and expand the team precisely where implementation requires it.

Qualifications

🎯 Your Profile

• 8+ years of professional experience in project realization, construction management, or EPC management of energy or infrastructure facilities – with your own implementation experience, not just from a client or controlling perspective.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Construction Management with a technical background (or comparable technical depth).
• Proficient in using specifications, VOB/BGB contract law logic, and tendering processes.
• Experience in coordinating planners, construction trades, and subcontractors – you speak at eye level with electrical planners, grid operators, and system integrators.
• Commercial understanding: Calculation, cost accounting, change orders, final invoicing.
• Experience in parallel management of multiple projects (pipeline rather than single projects).
• Experience with battery storage systems (BTM and/or FTM) and grid connection procedures according to VDE-AR-N 4105/4110.
• An existing network with EPC contractors and system integrators is an advantage.
• (Initial) leadership experience.
• Fluent German, proficient English; willingness to travel approx. 30%, mainly in the DACH region.
