Head of IT, Systems and Infrastructure

AltGen is looking for a talented Head of IT, Systems and Infrastructure to join a renewable energy C&I company based in Johannesburg. The role will be responsible for the build, deployment, integration, and day‑to‑day performance of all business‑critical systems across the business. Responsibilities Systems Ownership, Prioritisation & Execution * Own the day-to-day performance, stability, and continuous improvement of the Company's systems landscape. * Translate agreed business priorities into clear IT roadmaps, requirements, and projects. * Manage and execute IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. * Proactively identify and address potential system issues and risks. * Define and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance. * Ensure that all IT systems and infrastructure are aligned with the company's business goals and objectives. * Oversee the management and maintenance of all IT assets, including hardware, software, and networks. * Ensure the availability, scalability, and security of IT systems and infrastructure. * Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to IT systems and infrastructure to enhance performance and efficiency. Leadership & Team Management * Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team. * Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture. * Provide guidance and support to IT staff to ensure they are equipped to meet the needs of the business. * Manage the performance of the IT team, providing regular feedback and coaching. Vendor Management & Procurement * Manage relationships with external IT vendors and suppliers. * Negotiate contracts and ensure cost-effective procurement of IT hardware, software, and services. * Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs). IT Strategy & Planning * Develop and implement the company's IT strategy and roadmap. * Stay up-to-date with the latest IT trends and technologies. * Assess the IT needs of the business and identify opportunities for improvement. * Develop and manage the IT budget. Qualifications & Experience * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. * Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. * Proven experience in managing and supporting IT infrastructure and systems. * Strong understanding of IT security principles and practices. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. * Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS). * Experience in the renewable energy sector is advantageous.
