As soon as possible, we are therefore looking for a Head of IT (m/f/d) for our IT Team, 100% from home office (Germany) or at our Bremen office!

These Are Your Responsibilities

• You will manage our Tech Team (currently 8 people from development, data, and infrastructure) in a disciplinary and technical capacity – including 1:1s, objective agreements, further development, and recruiting new team members.

• You will take over the operational daily business of the CTO: prioritization, resource planning, escalations, and all decisions that still fall to him today.

• You will be responsible for the implementation of our roadmap across all four areas – Product, Data, Software, and Infrastructure – and ensure that agreed-upon deadlines are met.

• You will ensure predictable delivery capability: You will establish clear processes for planning, development, testing, and release and make the progress visible to all areas of the company.

• You will build a robust data foundation: You will bring our key figures for leads, appointments, and orders into a format that Sales, Marketing, and Management can trust.

• You will be responsible for the stability, security, and scalability of our platform – from monitoring and incident management to backups and access rights, and GDPR issues.

• You will stay technically close: You will evaluate architectural decisions, participate in code reviews, and if necessary, be able to look at the code yourself – even if you no longer spend the majority of your time there.

• You will actively manage technical debt: You will make it visible, evaluate it economically, and negotiate with the business units when we will reduce it.

• You will be the contact person for the business units for all technical topics and translate between business requirements and technical implementation.

• You will manage external service providers and tools, including selection, contracts, and budget responsibility for the IT area.

Thanks to Your Expertise, You Will Achieve the Following Milestones With Us

• 0-3 Months:

  • You will know the team, system landscape, roadmap, and the most important stakeholders and will have had a 1:1 with every team member.
  • You will have created a written assessment: biggest risks in stability and security, biggest bottlenecks in delivery capability, condition of our data basis.
  • You will have fully taken over the 1:1s, operational prioritization, and daily escalations from the CTO.
  • Together with the CTO, it will be recorded in writing which decisions lie with you and which lie with him.

• 4-6 Months:

  • Business units will know at all times what is being worked on.
  • Monitoring, alerting, and an incident process including post-mortems will be established; critical security and GDPR gaps from the assessment will be closed.
  • A first reliable version of our key figure reporting for leads, appointments, and orders will be live – with clearly defined metrics and named owners.
  • The CTO will only be involved in strategic questions, no longer in day-to-day business.

• 7-12 Months:

  • Delivery capability will be measurably better than at your start (e.g., shorter lead times, higher release frequency, fewer errors in production).
  • A plan for reducing technical debt will be in place and agreed upon with the business units.
  • The team will be expanded and structured according to the growth plan; you will have hired yourself and distributed responsibility within the team.
  • The platform will support the planned growth without stability problems, and the data basis will be the recognized truth in the company.

What You Bring With You

• At least 2 years of experience in managing Tech Teams (from approx. 3 people) – as Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Team Lead, Head of IT, or in a comparable role.

• A solid technical background as a developer (ideally 5+ years) – you have built yourself what you are now responsible for.

• Responsibility across multiple disciplines: You have not only managed development but have also dealt with data and/or infrastructure.

• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD, and modern web and platform architectures.

• A good sense for prioritization: You can say no for valid reasons and stay on course even when multiple areas want something from you at the same time.

• Experience in introducing processes that are actually lived – without stifling the team with bureaucracy.

• A data-driven work style: You measure before you decide and make results understandable to others.

• Strong communication skills towards non-technical people: You can explain to Sales, Marketing, and Management why something takes time – in a way that is understood and accepted.

• Self-responsibility and execution strength: You don't wait for orders but recognize yourself what needs to be done.

• Very good German language skills (min. C1) and good English language skills.

• Experience in a fast-growing environment (startup, scale-up, or agency) is a clear plus.

• Experience with lead generation, performance marketing, or B2B SaaS is a bonus, but not a prerequisite.

What Is Important To Us

• This position can be performed 100% in a home office. For team events and quarterly planning, we look forward to approx. 1-2 in-person days per quarter at our headquarters in Bremen Überseestadt (we cover travel expenses).

• You will report directly to the CTO and are part of the extended management circle.

• This is a full-time position with permanent employment.

• This role is intentionally broad: Product, Data, Software, and Infrastructure will converge with you.
