Head of IT & Engineering (m/w/d) | Innovative Environment | SaaS Platform

Our enthusiastic team of 20 passionate experts at the heart of Schwerin is working on scalable, modular SaaS solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into existing systems.

As Head of IT & Engineering (m/w/d), you will take a central role in further developing our platform and leading our technical team with enthusiasm and expertise.

Workplaces: Remote (Germany) or Schwerin | Time model: Full-time | Working style: Hybrid (1x month common day with the team at the office)

Team & Structure:

  • In this role, you will coordinate and disciplinarily lead our development team, which consists of:
  • Solution Sys & DevOps (DevSysOps Senior Enterprise Architect, Senior Enterprise Architect, System Administrator)
  • Solution Backend/Frontend (Solution Owner Backend & Frontend Engineering, Senior Engineer Backend Engineer, Senior Engineer Frontend)
  • Solution Video: (Senior Software Engineer Solution Video, Senior Software Engineer Video Conferencing, Software Testerin)

Your Tasks:

  • Leading our development team (9 people) and taking over technical overall responsibility for further developing our platform. You will foster a creative and productive team atmosphere, support individual team member development, and ensure efficient collaboration.
  • Conception and implementation of technical strategies in close coordination with the management and solution owners. You will be significantly involved in developing our IT and product strategy and help realize innovative features and solutions.
  • Creating and maintaining technical roadmaps that take into account the strategic orientation of the platform, security standards such as GDPR compliance and end-to-end encryption. You will integrate established principles like API-first architectures to ensure a flexible, scalable, and secure platform with clearly defined interfaces and integration possibilities.
  • Supporting optimization and further development of our WebRTC-based video technology and our stack (PHP, Laravel, React, Node.js). You will identify improvement potential, implement new functions, and ensure a stable and performant application.
  • Supporting the further development of our DevOps processes with modern tools like Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines. The goal is to ensure efficient deployments, automated tests, and high system availability.
  • Active shaping of the introduction of new technologies and methods to keep our platform up-to-date. You will drive innovations forward and ensure a sustainable technical foundation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent qualification
  • Multiple years of experience in coordinating and disciplinarily leading teams in the IT field
  • Fundamental knowledge in the areas of system architecture, DevOps, and software development, as well as their design, further development, and monitoring
  • Fundamental knowledge in budget planning and controlling complex IT projects
  • Experience with agile development methods and tools
  • Ideal: fundamental knowledge in PHP (Laravel), REST APIs, MariaDB, JavaScript, React, and SaaS environments
  • Very good German language skills (at least C1)
  • Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience in the healthcare sector and a basic understanding of data protection and security requirements
  • Familiarity with video and web app development (WebRTC, TypeScript)
